He was throwing rocks at cars, some have said this was suicide by cop. Others say the police murdered him.

I have heard if someone is within 20 feet holding a knife of someone with a gun, they are close enough to kill the gun holder.

Justified. IMHO when someone pulls a weapon on an officer it is always justifiable to shoot. I wish the officer had utilized a non-leathal method first, but the man threatening the officer with a knife gave the decision of how the officer responds to the officer.
