U.S., Russia and Magnetic Pulse Bombs

Is there an urban legend going around which has Russia disabling the U.S. with a Magnetic Pulse Bomb? The same scenario has the U.S. as Mystery Babylon in the Book of Revelation?

This might be an interesting surf in terms of Tribulation and Rapture.

Do you mean electromagnetic pulse (EMP)?

Yep. EMP.

I think it is a refinement of a nuclear device. Even tactical nukes have a certain electronic disabling which may or may not affect military operations. It would not be the first time we came up short on the battle field. Our electric grid nationwide is seriously vulnerable--without outside influence.

Better be underground with plenty of clean air, water and MREs.

Time for building fallout shelters again. Remember Bay of Pigs? Be prepared to defend your stuff--to the death.

Then there is the Neutron Bomb--it destroys only the biosphere.

Actually, an EMP doesn't have to be nuclear. Nuclear weapons do generate an EMP; but the capability to create a non-nuclear EMP has been around since the 1950's.

Yep. A modified nuke without the melt and wind. The neutron bomb is in there too--high-tech chaos.

I recall not too many years ago teaching how to survive tactical nukes on the battlefield. "Mopp4, hunker down and turn the other way"--kind of like Bikini Atoll. The body bag manual was not revised however. Bikini is still uninhabitable. The natives and their offspring are skewed genetically. Check out the half-life of radioactive Iodine.
