    I'm with you.......

Again, as a former member of the Red Cross Disaster Team, we are instructed to NOT allow animals in the shelters as per health code violations (service dogs are not included in this). I do not see that this will ever change. What this bill is saying is that there needs to be animals included in the evacuation plans - NOT that they need to put animals in people shelters and displace people.

The buildings already exist, such as the equine pavilion in Monroe, Louisiana.

I don't need to write a check. The money is already being withheld from my paycheck and sent to the IRS.

That is just not the way it was supposed to be - people that use the system's resources are supposed to pay more. That is why I don't add to the world's pollution with pets. That is why I don't take pets into the storm and endanger them.

Those of us helping the problem should get tax 'breaks' not be burdened by another welfare special interest group.

Ya' know I love ya' bro', it's your dogs & cats that I am allergic to.

    ;)

Now why would they do such a thing? Animals are so much better behaved when they are scared by a hurricane than humans are - they would be a calming effect. Just think that everytime a kid cried and one of those nice dogs bit him or her - the kids would calm down real quick.

    ;)

Not until after I get mine - I don't have extra kids and dogs and ...

    :saint:

And since I do not have the godly pleasures of having such animals around, then I should get paid double.

Ideally the pets would be kept in the same property as the people. That way, when things get really bad, there is a back up food source...

I can see it now....people dying in New Orleans because the rescuers had to drive out of their way to deliver Bessie the cow to another city.

And this raises another question... what about livestock? Everyone has been talking about pets, but what about the cattle, or even chicken farms?

After reading this thread, I feel Revmitchell makes more sense. The logistics will be a nightmare. What makes you think they can handle the animals when they couldnt even handle the humans in Katrina?

Humans are more important than animals. We were created in God's image, they werent. When it comes down to it... Save the Human.

Pets are members of the family. Livestock are not. They are property.

Our dogs are my wife and mine furkids. If anyone has a problem with that concept, that's just tough for him/her.

Sorry, pets are property too... That's why you pay taxes on them...
Please don't equate them to humans.........
Christ did not die for fluffy...He died for humanity.

I understand the closeness that one has to their pets... I have a Jack Russell.. and I wouldn't trade her for anything... but when it comes down to it, she is just a dog that God has placed with us to give us pleasure... That's it. She is not my child, and I am not her "daddy-kins"

On another note, it is sad how the government will do everything it can to protect animals, but will not protect unborn human life. There are penalties for killing a dog, than there is aborting a baby! We need to get our priorities straight.

    1) They aren't around here. I don't pay taxes on my pets. Ya'll tax pets in West Virginia?

    2) My dogs are to my wife and me. We are their mommy and daddy.

    3) Yes. We need to greatly strengthen the laws regarding cruelty to animals and to people.

    Bottom line:

    1.This is poor legislation

    2. The logistics are going to create more problems

    3. Lassie burgers are better with Hienze 57 steak sauce.

Anyone who says such a thing is truly sick in the head and a very, very poor representative of Christianity.

I'd love to say something about using a different sauce, but I don't think that would help the situation.

I eat meat almost every day but I don't post stupid things like you posted earlier on this page, Mitchell.

By the way, Mitchell, you should change your user ID as God is reverend and you aren't Him.

    Psalm 111:9 (KJV)
He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

1, yep we pay taxes on dogs
2, no you are not your dog's daddy.... unless you are truly weird
    You are fooling yourself
3, unborn babies are more important than dogs. Cruelty to animals is abominable, but abortion is worse.
