We don't treat prisoners decently because they deserve it. We do it because we are not like them. At least we shouldn't be. When we fail to do that, they have won a small victory over us.

I gave you the plan. You quoted the plan and asked "Where is the plan?"

Then you proposed to understand how long it should take to train the Iraqi police and military. In doing so you revealed that you have no understanding of military tactics, training, or logistics. Therefore you have , as you say, no credibility.

The plan or strategy for Iraq is plain enough if you look at the architects documents on the subject.

The plan has always been to destabilize and balkanize Israel's enemies. There is no exit strategy because there is not going to be any exit until this primary goal is reached.

Yeah I know the reasons we were given for invading Iraq, WMDs, liberating the Iraqi's, spreading democracy, and protecting the homeland from terrorists were all shouted from the rooftops by the MSM and the Bush administration and sound real good, but they are still outright lies when compared to the reasons given for invading Iraq by the same people before the action in their own documents. In their own words.

    Read the documents!

Poncho: //There is no exit strategy because there is not going to be any exit until this primary goal is reached. //

Amen, Brother Poncho -- Preach it!.

Last year we celebrated the 60 years of the
occupation of Germany and Japan. That is the criteria
for VICTORY - still there after 60 years.

Even yet it is not to late to snatch defeat from the
    jaws of Victory :(

Sorry RevM, you are the one lacking cred. You have offered nothing but staying in the quagmire. Again, explain your plan.

You're a little late jumping on the bandwagon.

MP has already realized I was not the only one that questioned his statement.

So here's a tip for you, too.

    Try to keep up.

Like NO Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)
why don't we still talk about
    'NO al-Qaida'?

This case is obvious: word order terrorists
    are in Iraq.

    Galatian,

I agree with you. My point is only that I have no sympathy for their alleged "suffering", in light of how they have treated Americans. I don't mean that I welcome or condone their mistreatment, I just don't care about them. I care about the souls and careers of the Americans charged with guarding and interrogating them and that is the only reason I don't want them mistreated.

    Back on topic.

Troops on the ground have long known that this type of treatment was not only possible, but likely.

Many small unit commanders, especially of ground troops, have told their men to never be taken captive. Never surrender. Die fighting.

    The reason is obvious.

Well, forget about the impossible task of "winning hearts and minds." This is the Bush doctrine - to win hearts and minds and build a great pseudo-democracy in Iraq. This is not unlike what the British tried to do under Winston Churchill. After many years of quagmire, endless British troops dying and the national treasury going broke, the Brits got outta there. It is a god forsaken place ruled by barbarians for ages and ages. We have no business being there unless we are going to TRULY occupy and take command, establish martial law and confiscate weapons from citizens, etc. It is time to get tough. We either get control and Bush let us take control or we get out and let them kill each other off, behead each other, or whatever else they seek to do....One cannot fight a war and nation build at the same time. I'm sick of this and sick of this "winning hearts and minds" koolaid bunk piled on us by the Bush administration. Let's level the place and get out.

It is never right to do wrong to do right. Wouldn't you agree?

    Likewise.
I have been travelling EXTENSIVELY the last two months, so I have not been online as much as I would like (other than doing work remotely). Additionally, with the onset of Summer, I have been cycling much more than I have in the past. Hope I can see you this summer: the offer is still out there so you can take me up on giving you the grand tour of the Commonwealth.

    Take care, my Brother,
BiR (actually in Richmond this week)

Are you trying to imply such a brazen overtone in your responses to me?
Shame on ANYONE who just simply assumes that someone believes something when he/she did not write anything that would imply that belief. That is bearing false witness, pure and simple. You know better than that, and shame on you for doing it anyway.

BIR, I commend you for the Christian way you deal with snide and unchristian remarks made to you by Carpro. I used to get into verbal slugfests with many here I disagree with, especially Carpro.

I thank you for your continued Christ-like attitude you portray here.

Explain my plan? The plan is not mine to make. But here is the plan as set by our President of these United States:

    1. Take out Saddam and his regime. Done:thumbs:
    2. Rebuild the infastructure that Saddam destroyed so that he could build palaces. Being done with great success.
    3. Establish a new government based on the free will of the Iraqi people. Done:thumbs:
    4. Establish a democracy where the Iraqi people will get to vote for their choice of representatives.Done:thumbs:
    5. Build an new police force and military that can support themselves and defend their country.Being done with great success.
    6. Withdraw our troops at the request of the newly formed Iraqi Government when they are able to defend their selves. Without setting exact times and dates that will give the terrorists a strategy.

That is the plan as set forth by the President of the United States. You may not like this plan, but it is a plan that is responsible, reasonable, and compassionate. It is a plan. So to continue with the extreme left wing talking points and spout out the phrase "There is no plan" is not effective but makes those who continue to use it look somewhat foolish. No credibility.

What would some of our liberal "blame America first" friends like to wager that these thugs will not be brought up on charges of kidnapping and murder like our 7 Marines and 1 sailor now have?

No. Instead, they will be honored as heroes... Yet according to the leftist, we are the terrorists in Iraq.
