I'm slow so it took me a minute to get it.

I do disagree that it is never right to do wrong to do right:

(1) My earlier comments weren't meant to justify doing wrong, but only to make the point that I have no sympathy for those wronged.
(2) Is psychological pressure right, generally? No. Is it torture? I don't think so, though I believe that it is a matter of degree. Is it right to do so, if it means (a) gaining intelligence that means you are better able to target these animals or (b) means saving lives (both Iraqi and American, let's not forget)? Yes, but depending on whether it crosses the line into torture.

Also, though I don't begrudge the debate, we should also not forget that the point of this thread is that Americans were treated savagely and killed barbarically. My general point is that there is no comparison between the butchery inflicted on Americans and the things Americans have been accused of (though recognizing that Hadijah is an issue). We should not lose sight of that.

I do generally agree with the statement, though, BiR, the ends do not justify the means.

BiR, I hope you're staying safe in your travels. We miss you here on the Board when you're out. I don't know when I will be back up that way. I'm doing my Navy Reserve in Bessemer (just outside Birmingham), AL now, retiring in November. I still very much hope to see you when I'm up that way and will keep that foremost in mind when coming up. God Bless and stay safe.

Yes I do. As a matter of fact, I rode it this morning from Jamestown to just past Williamsburg. I was riding solo, so I cut it short. I also rode the loop on Jamestown Island. There is a five-mile paved loop on the east end of the island. Not a hard ride, but a scenic and shady one (which is important this time of year).

What upsets me most...

The thing that upsets me most about these radical Islamists is the fact that they include God in all of their garbage. Our God is NOT their God, but the world may not know this if they do not know our God.
