Of course, there's the logical angle here: The feds want everyone covered, no matter what, and pre-existing conditions cannot be a factor. Oh--and "kids" are "kids" until age 26.

The feds also have cautioned against rate increases--even though they are introducing fairly severe policies that will raise expenses a great deal. They've expressed skepticism when anyone mentions, "Well, this will cost more." The HHS head has even threatened investigations of those that do raise rates.

So...this is an interesting development. Is it a concession that there's no way to ask insurance companies to do more without charging more? Or was this a goof by the feds, soon to be corrected with the standard line we've seen before?

I think what has happened is this: Even the more dim-witted socialist types in the government are realizing that if only sick kids are covered, the systme will collapse. And although I think privately folks like Kathleen Sebellius (the HHS head, and Healthcare Emporer) wants that to happen (so that full-fledged socialized medicine will happen)--they know that if it happens too quickly, there will be a full-scale collapse of the system, and that even the messiah himself wouldn't be able to hope and change it into a working model.


Hmmm.....maybe the gravity of the mess they've made is sinking in with these yahoos.

That's because the mandate doesn't kick in until 2014, but other provisions take effect earlier. We need to go to a single payer, universal healthcare system and ban private insurers from covering services that are covered by universal healthcare. I've said this a million times before: The healthcare law is weak, doesn't go far enough, and is a huge gift to the big insurance companies because there is a mandate with no public option.

We shall disagree over this. I'm in hopes that this election will turn things around and kick this plan out. But you are correct, they are trying to get this in by going through the back door by bankrupting the insurance companies. If this is going to be so good, why doesn't congress want the same program?

In my plan, members of Congress would also gain universal health insurance and would not be able to buy private health insurance for services covered under the universal plan. What I want to do is reduce the Medicare eligibility age to zero.

I'm just giving you a hard time, but how many want your plan? We are about as far a part as two can get. I believe people have to do their part. Now I am for how it was down here when I was a kid, if your family couldn't take care of you, you went into an orphanage. Three of my best friend came out of an orphanage, they all claim it was the best thing for each of them. They were pushed hard in school and got scholarships and all finished college and two have post grad. degrees.

I believe family takes care of family, then the church comes in then the neighbor hood but not the government.

That's what it looks like to me. If you want a good study, read about the congress woman from J-ville, Representative of the 3rd District of Florida, Corrine Brown. I still don't know how she ever got elected and she is reelected each time she runs. She is a pice of work as they say.

She is reelected because of careful district line drawing. She makes sure that those that will believe her rhetoric are within her district.

Yep. She's a terrible congresswoman and she only gets elected because of careful gerrymandering. What they did was they took areas that are predominately black and put them in the Third District. I live in the Fourth District and my congressman is Ander Crenshaw. Matt, who is your congressman?

I campaigned for Ander Crenshaw when he ran the first time as our congressman before they redrew the lines. Good man.

I don't really have a problem with Crenshaw. He is a good person. I'm not going to vote for him because I disagree with him on too many issues. I'm not sure who I'm voting for Congress. The other candidate on the ballot, Troy Stanley (I), is even to the right of Crenshaw! There are two write-in candidates, but I can't find out anything about them. :BangHead:
