That is what the news from Iraq indicates to me.

Apparently they took a wrong turn and refused to stop when told to. If you did the same thing here in Jacksonville, Arkansas, even if there were a pregnant woman in the car, I wonder what would happen. But, I guess that is Bush's fault also.

My brother is a Gunnery Sergeant in the USMC and has served in Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and most recently Iraq. If some people drove through a restricted area, I would expect him to do exactly the same, as would his fellow troops.

Since we voted for him, it's our fault. I guess that means it's Ken's fault, as well.

    Joseph,

How many people have to go through the AFB in Jacksonville to get to the hospital to have their baby delivered?

Through a restricted area, Ken. You should work for the media. You'd fit right in.

Why should an Iraqi have to go through a restricted area to get to a hospital?

    Ken,

If you lived in the Bayou Meta area, it would certainly be a lot quicker to cut through the back gate and exit the front gate to get to Rebsamen Hospital in Jacksonville. So tell me, is the militarization of Jacksonville also Bush's fault, or do you want to come down off your political high-horse and use some common sense?

Yep. I have admitted I made a mistake in voting for George W. Bush both times, especially in 2004. That is why I am working to spread the word throughout the Internet to try to stop him from destroying the U.S. and world economies by starting another Middle East war with Iran.

    1. The last I checked Jacksonville was not a hot zone.

    2. How many civilians cut through?

Because there is something going on called a WAR, maybe? Nevertheless, they should have stopped or found an alternate route.

Yep. Thanks to the incompetence of George W. Bush.

Why should a Bayou Metan have to go through a restricted area to get to a hospital? Oh wait. They could go around, but that might take a little longer. I guess it would be worth it though not to be shot. I guess that is also Bush's fault too, right?

    1. The LRAFB is a restricted area.

    2. There was this guy once who tried to jump the fence on the base. I emphasize the word "WAS". Not many civilians cut through without being signed in or without special permission because apparently they are smarter than this stooge in Iraq. Apparently when they see guards with weapons and signs that tell them to stop and say restricted area, they tend to follow instructions.

    KenH -

I'm guessing you are not a big fan of George W. Bush. (just a wild guess)

The story that you started this post off with is a tragic story. But, what would you expect the US soldiers to do in this situation? Do you not believe that they gave warnings? Do you think they enjoy shooting innocent people? I don't understand what you are trying to say. Furthermore, you seem to think everytime something tragic happens over there it is Bush's fault. That's similar to blaming Bush for the Hurricanes last year. It's silly. I realize you're answer is "Bush got us into this war". Really? Do you actually remember when we went to war? Do you not remember how many people were in favor of it? You will say "that's because Bush lied about WMDs". Really? Was he the only one making these claims? Seems like I can remember the whole world believing Iraq had WMDs or the capability of producing them. The only debate back then was whether to wait for compliance, (another 12 years maybe), or go in there and remove Saddam from power.

We never did find any WMDs there. But, what we did find was evidence of years of evil done by Saddam and his regime against his own people. (innocent people, on purpose). Now that things are shaping up over there, you want us to pull out. What do you think will happen if we do? Think long and hard about it.

    1) Our troops are in an untenable situation that will not get any better. Eventually, the Iraqi government, at the behest of the Iraqi people, will tell us to get out. I prefer that we leave now on our own volition.

    2) Yes. I supported it at the time. President Bush declared that our mission was accomplished in May 2003. It's time to admit our mistake in invading Iraq and bring our troops home. We've done about all we can do for the Iraqi people.

    3) The same thing that is going on now. People will be killing people. At least our troops won't be in an untenable situation and accidentally killing innocent civilians.

"I was driving my car at full speed because I did not see any sign or warning from the Americans." - the pregnant woman's brother.

If our troops are going to maintain these checkpoints then I suggest that gates be put in place to prevent any further tragic incidents like this one.
