I take note that he used no weapons of mass destruction against us or his people, but was run down like a dog and shot. Maybe, just maybe they said that to justify taking him out.
I know, I was trained as a kid to not like him. To see him as the enemy. But did we take him out because he wouldn't do business with our billionairs?

Bless you canadyjd!
Well, if I remember correctly, Saddam used mustard gas on the Kurds in northern Iraq.

BTW, are you using “bless you” as some do in the south as a pejorative?

peace to you

That was before the first Iraqi war wasn't it?

No. I saw your "peace to you" and wanted to return the blessing.

It was after Gulf W 1, and before Gulf W 2, I think. It was one of the arguments that they “knew” he had WMD because he had already used them in his own people.

Don’t misunderstand, not finding WMD was a disaster for our credibility, especially our intelligence communities and those around the world that were so certain.

In the end, however, the President can only go by the information he has. Should he have listened to Powell? In hind sight, yes, Powell looks like a genius. But the pres makes the call.

Thanks for the blessing. I’ll take all I can get.

peace to you

The chief U.N.inspector, Scott Ritter said they didn't have them, and he was right. Nobody listened to him, including me at the time.

It was Saadam’s fault for claiming he had them and threatening to use them.

peace to you

At the time I was all for the invasion. I was wrong to support the decision. At some point the USA needs to quit causing wars. The cold war was over. We should be great full. But we want to throw our weight around and make business for the rich. One day perhaps we will realize war is bad. We will realize we were wrong.

Well, I don’t think the US is “causing war”. I agree we should be careful with “foreign entanglements”, as George Washington said.

The only way to completely avoid conflict is to totally shut down international trade, alliances, travel, cooperation etc.

Maybe the whole world needs to realize war is bad, not just the US.

peace to you

Squire Robertsson, where is the UN in all of this? I keep hearing NATO this and NATO that, but nothing UN.
