From the post-dismissal statement by Smollett's attorney:
“This entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion. That is wrong."
I have to agree completely, but only as it applies to what Jussie and his defenders were doing. One of the most egregious parts of this is the sealing of the police records - if the state prosecutors didn't think the case was worth going to trial, they should be willing to tell folks why not.
Reminds me of the comedian's line, "When I die, I want to be buried in Chicago so I can remain active in politics."

Special Ed [Chicago Police superintendent Eddie Johnson] is Rahm's prop — the Accidental Supernintendo who didn't even apply for the job ends up on every TV show and interviewing constantly — but to what end? A new gig? Preserving his old gig? Doing what he was told by other powers, namely Rahm?

Rahm is so phony that even his stated outrage about this case just smacks of pure politics. Evidently, he tells Johnson what to say. This whole matter is about Chicago politics, which we now know Is being run by the Obamas. The worst thing that could happen is for the FBI to look into this case as they are as crooked as Rahm and Obama.

CMG, you’re right. We should have immediately known it was all part of the plan from the beginning. Rahm outrage? An acting job. It was all part of the ‘We’ve got this, we’re all over it in Chitown. Yeah, today Rahm tells Trump to stay away, because they’re gonna make Jussie pay a big 130 grand that it took to run the investigation. That will wipe it away, eh? Wonder how long it will take Jussie to come up with that? Ah, about five minutes with plenty of walking around money thrown in as a bonus to him for his personal suffering in getting outed.

Victor Davis Hanson said on a Laura Ingram podcast that it is possible that the City of Chicago thought that the homosexual hero would turn a trial into an OJ Simpson sort of grandstanding and that no Chicago jury would convict the homosexual hero.

Yeah, jury nullification, forgot about that one and all the conditions are ripe for it in this case - urban liberal environment, black gay Jewish defendant, actor. But, speaking of OJ, he did eventually fail to avoid all trouble, and Jussie won't be able to stay clean either - this is not the first time he lied to the police, he will do something again before long.

Don't believe Rahm's grandstanding, either, especially since he blamed Trump for Jussie's last crime. They can all go rot in the sewer named Chicago that they created for all I care.
