Why do you care so much for the unborn, but not for the living?

I guess the same could asked about health care for the aged. Why do you care so much for the dying, but not those with a long life ahead of them?

Sadly the leftist like Obama and his followers want to kill at both ends of the spectrum: Slaughter the unborn and let the 15 member "death panel" under Obamacare sentence the elderly.

We already have death panels. The current death panels are the reviewers who work for insurance companies and determine if a procedure will or will not be paid for.

But your argument is a good reason to never allow human cloning.

If human cloning were to become a reality someone could use the same argument that clones don't have souls and consign them to a slave class.

I would disagree because you can STILL have the procedure if the doctor so chooses - or if you are able to raise the funds yourself. If my insurance company decided that they would not allow my daughter to have her surgery where she did, we would have mortgaged the house to have it done. It wasn't the insurance company's decision - it was ours. Now, if the doctors all decided that she would not get the surgery, then that would be an other story.

In countries with socialized medicine, the doctors can choose to not do a procedure based on something like age and you have no choice. An example is my friend's dad who had prostate cancer. He was deemed too old to treat and so they were going to let him die. This was in England. Even paying for it privately, they wouldn't do it. He came here to the states and received immediate care that he paid for - but he was able to get the care. It was HIS choice, not any bureaucracy.

All well and good if you have resources like a house, money for world travel, etc. Many sick people have nothing.

Which is why being in a church family is so important. I know in our church, we've paid the medical bills of those who do not have insurance for whatever reason and find themselves in a catastrophic situation.

No, but my friend's father was a young man, in his 60s with still MANY more years to his life. He would have been dead within the year in England but instead he had 8 more years - enough years to see his grandchildren born - before he had an accident and was killed. The government insurance didn't deem him worthy enough of those 7 extra years.

While Romney will probably not do much to stop abortions (mainly for fear of alienating moderate Republicans and independents), I dont see him going against the party that puts him in office by advancing the pro-abortion agenda.

Obama does indeed have a pro-abortion agenda and pursues it shamelessly.

Bottom line is this....over the next 4 years either Obama will try to pass more pro-abortion legislation...or Romney will simply do nothing.

Since these are the only two choices we have i would prefer the "do nothing" candidate.

I agree. Unfortunately we're between a rock and a hard place and at least the rock can be budged a bit. I'd rather vote for someone who is at least not going to make things worse for moral values.

No, It is not the function nor purpose of either of those two entities to do this...the responsibility lies with US....It lies with those in the Church to help others in the Church. We can delegate authority to Government....you cannot delegate the responsibility.

The reviewers do no such thing, the contract signed and freely entered into by both signers: the insurance company and the purchaser, determine which procedures will be paid for.

You say your church pays the medical bills for members who do not have insurance? What would your church do if a patient needed a heart transplant, but was uninsured? Would your church pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars to help people like these.

The problem is not that the church will not help, it's that the cost of medical treatment has risen to the point that without insurance, a person is pretty much out of luck if they are not wealthy.
