You do not understand Dr. BOB as you do not understand John M.
We all see it. I understand your frustration

Great thread, Dr. Bob. But I'd call some of the ones in this list idioms rather than synecdoche, like "bread" for money, etc.

The vast majority of BB members know about Dr. Bob and his education and ministry background.

Would you please inform us of what degrees your have and what schools you have attended and/or graduated?
And your ministry positions for the past 50 years?

    Appreciate it

Glad you understood my thinking. I'm often afraid simple teaching/logic is often seen whooshing overhead unobstructed. Laying the proper foundation of grammar/logic is a duty of a pastor.

The shedding of blood IS an integral part of the whole doctrine of atonement (involving sinless life for the perfect sacrifice; crucifixion as the means rather than stoning, etc, of the sacrifice; resurrection demonstrating God's acceptance of the sacrifice). So pleased you grasped it.

Self taught by the help of the Lord

What real difference does it make how many letters you have after your name? If you have problems with what I write then you can point it out.

You have not been able to refute anything that I have said from the Bible as have none of the others who just like to moan about things.

You support a person because of who they are and not whether they are right or wrong as with your Calvinism

the foolishness of your line of questions is all too apparant! this goes for those who also considered what you said to be a "winner"!

You failed to mention how great Dr Bob is, when he seems to not know the difference between "idioms" and "synecdoche", as John has correctly pointed out in #24!

I have seen some on here who are "experts" in languages, who themselves fail in their understanding in, for example, Greek grammar, which I have pointed out, but no apology was given

I use many grammatical and study books, and have seen time and again, there ERRORS these people have who letters after their names, make! Like DR A T Robertson, the "great" Greek scholar, and DR George Winer, whom DR Robertson called one of the GREATEST Greek scholars, who misunderstand simple Greek gramnmar!

It is very sad that you are more interested in the "education" levels of people, rather than WHAT they say or write! I wonder what you think of Acts 4:13? "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus"

I have learned MUCH MORE from prayer and direction of the Holy Spirit, than from ANY book, or person of renown!

What is interesting here, is the fact that John MacArthur is in grave error, with his statement in the video clip that I have shared, which is the purpose behind this thread by Dr Bob, where he very clearly says:

"Do you think that He (Jesus) had to bleed, no, not to save us"

You don't need a DD, or Phd, or the like, to see from this, that JM is saying, that Jesus Christ did not have to bleed, in order to save us. Yet is is very clear from the Bible, that Atonement is ONLY in the BLOOD! For actually calling out DR John MacArthur, for his ERROR, I have been attacked and questioned by children on BB! I can take it, because I know what I have said to be BIBLE TRUTH!

Well, I cant comment much more tonight - have to get right to bed - I have an appoitment with a medical doctor in the morning. He is very inexpensive - since he has never been to medical school - he is self taught. I am very happy with him.

did you know that without the shedding of blood, there can be NO Atonement? It is ONLY in the Blood of Jesus Christ, which He shed on the Cross, that can Atone for our sins!

so children who are home schooled, by parents who have little or no formal training as teachers, are less successful? Are they any less educated than those who go to a school? or turn out to be bigger fools?

Such is the folly of this sort of reasoning!

    I am re-opening this thread - but
    NO MORE personal insults!

You might disagree with an individual but
We don't need to be telling someone they are ignorant -
rather - just say you don't agree with their interpretation.

there are other examples - lets not get personal on these things.

So, lets get back to the OP - and discuss that -AND lets do it in a mature manner.

To give you a quick reqcap - - here is the first paragraph that Dr. Bob wrote:

Synecdoche is figure of speech in which a PART of something is used to signify the WHOLE (or vice-versa). In fact, it’s derived from the Greek word synekdoche: “simultaneous meaning.” As a literary device, synecdoche allows for a smaller component of something to stand in for the larger whole, in a rhetorical manner.

I trust we will act like mature Christians.
