University of Cincinnati cop Ray Tensing indicted on murder charge for killing Samuel DuBose during traffic stop

The University of Cincinnati cop who killed a driver during a traffic stop over a missing front license plate will be charged with murder.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters ripped into Officer Ray Tensing as he announced the grand jury indictment against the cop during a Wednesday press conference.

“This is the most asinine act I've ever seen,” he said of the shooting. “This does not happen in the United States.”

Tensing shot and killed Samuel DuBose on July 19 after the officer pulled him over near the university campus for a missing front license plate.

In a police report, Tensing said he was “dragged” by DuBose, forcing him to shoot.

But Deters said video from the stop showed no such thing: instead DuBose slowly pulled away from the stop, and Tensing "fell backward after he shot (DuBose) in the head," the prosecutor said.

Tensing overreacted and "purposely killed" DuBose, Deters said, adding that the cop "should have never been a police officer."

“He wasn't dealing with someone who was wanted for murder. He was dealing with someone who didn't have a front license plate,” he said.

A warrent has been issued for the cop's arrest. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Earlier on Wednesday, Tensing's attorney Stewart Mathews said the grand jury indictment was likely “given the political climate.” But Mathews said given the evidence he's seen, he doesn't believe there should be an indictment.

Body-camera video of the shooting was also released Wednesday. DuBose's family had been pressing for its release.

Just a shame. Over a license plate. The senseless murder of unarmed black people by police continues. And folks wonder why so many doubt the suicide of Sandra Bland.

Shouldn't there be trial before this is declared as murder?

Oops... forgot who I was talking to.

Never mind.

I didn't charge him with murder. The prosecutor did.

Oops...forgot that your racism affects that spot in your brain that regulates reading.

Funny cause I heard someone on a talk show this morning say that only idiot racists wouldn't be questioning if it was a suicide or not.

I agree with their assessment over yours.

County prosecutor Joseph T. Deters, says "Officer Tensing purposely killed” Mr. DuBose after the officer lost his temper in what he called a “chicken crap” traffic stop.

Nice going county prosecutor Deters. You've now made it impossible for officer Tensing to have a fair trial, having announced that he is guilty of murder.

How anybody can see what happened from that jerky wobbly video is beyond me.

Naturally a race baiter would believe that.

So what else is new?

The bland deal is over. You'll have to find another phony racial incident to promote.

Right right. Set aside your legal duty to remain impartial, Prosecutor Deters. Publicly take sides before trial has even begun.

Oh you mean the way the prosecutor did in the Michael Brown case? Or any other number of cases in which it's been obvious that prosecutors aren't being impartial but rather working hand in hand with the police?

Careful now. The racial double standard is rearing its head.

Exactly right. Your own racial double standard is showing. You like it when prosecutors announce that a white cop is guilty before his trial has begun.

Doesn't matter what he says. A jury will decide. There is absolutely no indication this was a "racial" incident.

To white kids like Zaac that are here to sow discord, they are all about race.

He's to be pitied.

When almost all police killings don't go to trial because the prosecutors work with the police departments, yep, I absolutely LOVE it when they charge the officers with SOMETHING so that due process for the dead people is allowed to continue even in their death. Sorry that you only believe in due process for the police.
