I'm not talking about soccer. This is not a thread about soccer. It is about the US soccer team's poor behavior. So why are you talking about it? I find it interesting that people who don't like soccer go out of their way to talk about how much they don't like...soccer.
I believe I heard yesterday the women players are paid 12% of revenue, men 9%. The men need more pay for it to be fair.
[While these articles noted that the U.S. women’s team brings in more money than the men’s team, they all managed to ignore the more-relevant disparity in revenue: The men’s tournament brought in over $6 billion in revenue in 2018, while the women’s tournament is estimated to only have brought in $131 million in 2019. The prize pools are taken from those revenue totals. In other words, the women’s prize pool was approximately 23 percent of their total revenue, while the men’s prize pool consisted of approximately 7 percent of revenue. The winning men’s players received only about four times as much as the winning female players, despite bringing in over 45 times as much revenue. These numbers should make it obvious that there is no substantive case that the women’s team is underpaid relative to their male counterparts, but the media managed to ignore those facts./QUOTE]

don't care for soccer. it's boring
they should let "transwomen" play
It takes everything I have not to break the rules here today.
Sorry to see that you are not pro-America.
Yes and if this were a thread about the sport of soccer, I would not be in it. But this is not that kind of thread. It is about the poor behavior of the US Soccer team. You wrote - and I quote: “It will be a cold day in "you-know-where" before I ever care about the sport of soccer.”

So what happens when transgender women (biological men) take over women's athletics?1. Fairness
2. The women's team has won 4 FIFA World Cups.
3. The men's team has never won a single FIFA World Cup.
I thought Americans were suppose to want people rewarded based on how they perform. The men aren't even in the same soccer universe with the women when it comes to performance-based outcomes.

This idea that the women on Team USA soccer should get the same pay as the men is ridiculous. Check out the attendance at these games. Check out the ticket prices for each gender. Check out the advertising dollars each bring in. Furthermore, they aren't doing equal work. It's not even conceivable that the women could compete with the men's team.
Just look at the NBA vs. the WNBA. Is anyone suggesting the WNBA players should get equal pay?
Back before we sent women to combat, do you think they should have been paid the same as the men who did go to combat?
Me, I root for West Bromwich-Albion or whoever is playing Manchester United tonight. You can also count me as an ABC fan (AnyBody except Chelsea).
What, in your opinion, is USSF's responsibility to make up the pay difference caused by FIFA's sexist system? Given that USSF has a limit on the fund with which they have to work - basically a zero-sum situation - seems like the only way they could do that would be to cut the men's pay scale. If some folks make $10/hour and others make $20, is $12/hour for all a sensible solution? (Closer to the bottom in this hypothetical example due to the huge difference in World Cup bonuses.)Incorrect. From your linked article: "The new agreement has provisions that may reduce the difference in bonuses for friendly games and tournaments, but there is — without question and for whatever reasons — still a massive gap between men’s and women’s World Cup bonuses."
That’s right sir. It’s all down to basic economics: demand and supply. The world comes to a stop during World Cup but few bother with women’s World Cup.
Hmmm....men get 7% of the total revenue pie. Women get 23% of the total revenue pie. Fair?
I think we will, unfortunately, see more of this type of thing. This seems to be excelling.' Two years ago, the talented US women’s soccer player Jaelene Hinkle declined a call-up to the US Women’s National Team because she did not want to be forced to wear the team’s new LBGT pride jersey. Although she initially preferred to keep her reasons to herself, she eventually admitted that her decision was informed by her religious conscience. That was the end of her career with the USWNT.'
