But Ed, someone can go to your profile, look at your home page and find out the name of your kids, grandkids, deceased wife, current wife, and previously could see pictures of the home you had for sale.

We 'forget' what we share OPENLY sometimes. ALSO, we have people who post pictures of themselves (without ever telling us their real names) but they use their real name in the 'file' where their picture is kept. When someone views that picture, you can see the real name! There's a lot of those in the BB album.

Email addresses.... don't be surprised if I call you Missy if you openly display your email as MissyJones@wasteyourmoney.con

There are SO many ways people 'find out things'!

I've come across a few names that SEEM suspect:
    Norman Conquest
    Chuck Roast
    Guy Wire
    Denton Fender
    Allis Chalmers

Usinf the formula postulated above, I would either be Dingo Watson or Chester Watson.

Oh, a fun fact for any who watch Monster House. The host, Steve Watson, grew up down the road from me. He was recently back in his home town filming an upcoming show. He had his mother's house redone for Mother's Day. The show will air on May 6, I think.

oh, and he also had the local animal shelter super-sized.

    In Christ,
    Trotter

There are many things that one can find out in public records
on the Internet, such as how much a person pays for their house,
when they bought it, who they bought from, and yes even their
home address. The board rule prohibits the home
address explicitly; but the other information is only prohibited
by BB rules implicitly. IMO this is not information to be posted
on the BB; I will not post it. IMO links to this information
should not be posted; I will not post it.

Likewise, i believe that actual names should not to be used.
Board names are always available in the post which
one is citing. Anyway, in the debate areas
we should used names infrequently, we should debate ideas,
    not people.

I work closely with the military.
I knew 'General Disaster' when she was just
    'Major Disaster' [IMG]

Ima Hogg: daughter of Gov. Jim Hogg; sister to Michael, William, and Thomas

There were no other girls in this family, and certainly none named Eura.

Miss Hogg was a great philanthropist, establishing many foundations for the mentally handicapped, and also a nationally renowned conservator of historical places, especially around Houston and southeast Texas.

She was named after the heroine of a civil war-era novel written by the brother of Jim Hogg.

You can run but you can't hide on the internet. Bwah ha ha! [IMG]

The kid who visits next door is actually named Doodle.

Luke 12:3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

I grew up on Locust street. I had a dog named Plague, so my name would be Plague (of) Locust. :D

Just kidding, but the street name really was Locust. I first lived on a street named Hennepin, my favorite dog was named Tony, so Tony Hennepin it is, which isn't as cool as Plague (of) Locust would be. That is, if Plague (of) Locust would be considered cool, which maybe it isn't. Ok, enough babbling.

I would like to have a cooler username, but I'm not clever enough to think of one. A somewhat famous person has the same name I do, so when I search Google, nearly every post is about that guy and not me.

A famous artist/author has my name. [IMG]

Thank you all for your different opinions.
I appreciate your taking time to share them.

I put this in the Fellowship Forum so that we could share opinions without debate.

Many times when we debate, we forget that the person is just expressing his/her opinion and not fact.

Ain't that the truth Thankful. Sometimes I am reluctant to post for fear that I will be misread. This should all be for fun unless you say you want to debate. It's not my style to argue much.

Chipsgirl, I thought Chip was either your husband or you were a chocolate chip eater. [IMG] Never would have guessed it was your cat but we have one lady who used her dog's name as her user name and another fella who used his dog's name.

Nope, it's my furry son. He's white with black spots on him...they look like little chocolate chips. He's got me tied around his paw obviously since I'm his girl. Haha.

Tony, just be glad you're not a cat. I don't want to have to shoot you.
