No more than when the team was in Oakland, I followed the Raiders.

During the height of the Cold War, the Cincinnati Reds referred to themselves as the Cincinnati Redlegs.
Why not? They were the Highlanders before they had to play in the Polo Grounds, no longer so 'high' as in their downtown stadium, Hilltop Park. And this was after they were the Baltimore Orioles, that scrapping, brawling team of John McGraw, Wee Willie Keeler, King Kelly, et al. But Ban Johnson, who by 1901 virtually ruled professional baseball, decided his American League needed a team in New York, and worked behind the scenes to move them there-- in comparable fashion to how the NFL Colts deserted Baltimore one night for Indianapolis in 1984.
