I still see Trump signs everywhere and never saw the first Biden flag. This area is still very much conservative. The closer you get to Washington DC the more liberal it gets.

Here in Northern Newport News which is a very democrat controlled area generally all over the city, saw many Trump signs and counted less than 5 Biden signs anywhere. Includes all over the city except the inner south city which did not visit, Daughter lives in Hampton, and again same results, and Hampton is more similar all over like a squarish shape than Newport News which is stretched out a long ways and I always felt is more diverse.

But would that be because - the area has a large concentration of military personnel and DOD civilians and contractors?

Ft Eustis is just couple miles away from my house. Sure, maybe they are more patriotic nationalist minded republicans than being globalist minded.
We get military planes, copter flyovers, and I can hear big gunfire training sometimes. the Warwick river right down end of our street, on the other side is that military base. Ft Monroe in Phoebus, part of Hampton, is no longer an army base for a few years now. Langley, I drive by a lot, it is right near my wife's school where she teaches

But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
Something touched me deep inside
The day the revivals died

Somewhat semi-related - MD and WV share a common border for 100-150 miles.
My recommendation ( if VA counties come to WV) that the Western half of MD becomes WV
and the Eastern half of WV become part of Maryland. That location would be near Cumberland, MD.

The VA Pendelton is named for a WBTS General
and is operated by the Virginia National Guard
Camp Pendleton (Virginia) - Wikipedia

The CA Pendelton is named for a General who served in several
conflicts, including the Spanish American War
Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton - Wikipedia

I have an ideal - why not re-name the VA base after the Marine Corps General.
Wait - wouldn't Americans of Spanish decent be offended?
