Vaccine to be ready this fall- early winter, Trump was right, coming soon.

Hospital chairman of medicine sees encouraging signs on coronavirus vaccine

Amazing speed, already now they are testng this vaccine on patients. Trump did say soon for the vaccine, which had been said to be impossible. China also has a vaccine ready for testing. Usual time for a vaccine to be accepted is 12 to 18 months, but they are working very much harder and faster on this one. And this doctor says death rate is being highly skewed, will be much lower when the data is finally all in.

yes it is encouraging to see vaccines in human trials already. But that is not a guarantee of anything. It takes time to test a vaccine, get approval then produce and distribute the vaccines. This will be fast tracked because of urgency but it will be too late for all the people in this first wave.

That is why you all need to mobilize around Trump’s plan now. This virus is hitting the US hospital system now and is projected to overwhelm the system in about 2-3 weeks. There is a small window to slow down its spread but that requires huge sacrifice by Americans to make the drastic changes that Trump is asking for.

If you can slow the rate of infection down, and keep hospitals from being overwhelmed, you can keep the death rate close to 1% (which is still around 5-10x higher than the flu). If you do nothing or half measures or if it is too late, you are looking at 3-6% death rates, maybe higher in some areas.

Please listen to Trump’s plan now.

I wish I was wrong on this and hopefully the actions taken will make me look like I am overreacting. That would be the best thing in the world if that were the case. Saving lives is way more important than being right about a stupid debate on a message board.

And you can save lives by social distancing, washing hands and isolating yourself when you are sick (even a mild illness). It is not your own life you need to worry about if you are young and healthy. It is your elderly neighbour, your parents or grandparents, your nursing home residents, your health care workers that you are saving.

That is one of the most sensible and well reasoned comments I've read on a social media site. Couldn't agree more with listening to and heeding Trump's plan and about the concern and responsibility for our elderly.
