"I hear that many Chinese exporters are rejecting orders from Walmart and other Western retailers," said Dong Tao, an economist for Credit Suisse in Hong Kong. "I've been covering the Chinese economy for a long time, and I've never heard that before."

"Seems that inflation and Beijing's efforts to raise the country's pitifully low wages are making Chinese goods too expensive for the likes of Walmart. The giant discount chain is now seeking lower-cost suppliers where workers toil for even less."

If true, an important milestone on OUR international race to the bottom of the food chain. Looks like the world will run out of cheap labor before running out of oil. What happens then?

Our standard of living will rise again? Fat chance of that! Not as a scab nation. We are competing for the bottom, not the top.

>BEIJING — China's population is aging rapidly and half the people now live in cities, the government said Thursday.

IF SO, this will push up the cost of labor in China. What happens when bottom line manufacturing + shipping costs in China are about the same as costs in the US? If everything else (standard of living) becomes close to being equal, will not manufacturing contracts still go to the lowest net bidder?

We need to protect American jobs by penalizing companies that move jobs overseas, expelling illegal immigrants, offering government incentives to create jobs here, and by instituting social democracy.

Why? Because they have all sold out to the people who own us.

Anyone think "Sixteen Tons" was not descriptive in the real world? The "company store" is so high up the food chain that it is invisible to us.

VERY IMPORTANT if true

I can think of whole lot of things that are important if true. But most of them ain't.
