Very Sad

Not only is it tragic, but also an indicator of the times we live in. I feel that Christianity is at a low point in America. Too many people call themselves Christians but have no idea what it means.

Children are a trust from God and are to be raised in an atmosphere that stresses a relationship with Christ. What else should our priority be? This should be first. If first, then several other high priorities should naturally accompany it. High moral standards, a sense of personal responsibility and a knowledge of the love of their parents for them.

A good education is important, but I would say a good foundational education in the Bible and then secular subjects. A childs eternal fate and effectiveness for Christ as an adult should be more important to parents than whether they will obtain financial success. Teach the child right and trust God for the rest.

Good point MargoWriter. It's still upsetting when those who claim to be born again (which I would say is a narrower group than those who simply claim to be a Christian) place so little emphasis on eternal things.
