Video Conference?

SovereignMercy started a thread about using a smartphone to record sermons; made me think. We're trying to solve a problem at an institution where they use Video Conferencing to teach subjects. Some of the courses should be taught in computer labs; but the equipment is expensive, and the institution can't afford to outfit other rooms.

They have GMail accounts, but Google Chat doesn't seem to be that conducive to conferencing.

SO-- if your church is webcasting the services live, what are you using to do it?

We don't do it live but instead record it and post it online a few days later. The equipment to even video record the service was very expensive and I can't imagine the cost to live stream it!

you might check into skype, don't know if they do conference or not.

You can conference multiple callers on Skype; just not sure if you can share out your "desktop" like you can with Webex. Been looking at Google+ "Hangouts"; but that's limited to 10 callers in the conference.

Ann - you may have already looked at SovereignMercy's thread; if not, you should. Using a smartphone to do the audio recording is pretty slick; and it tells me there's similar apps for video recording.

Ex - Skype Premium will allow desktop sharing; but like Hangouts, you're limited to no more than 10 callers.

Webex and GoToMeeting seem to be better options, but more expensive.
