Adam Smith, who posted an online video of himself going through a Chick-fil-A drive-thru and ordering only the free water, was canned from his gig as chief financial officer of Vante, a Tucson medical manufacturing company, after the video made the rounds....

....“Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A,” the company said in a statement. “Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.

I heard about this earlier and it is clear who is the one with the hate. I am glad that his company has taken a stance. I just hope they stick with it as they are most likely going to be sued now. Hopefully he enjoys his free water.

The quick reaction from his company of firing him is pretty intriguing.

For starters they realized this guy was being a jerk and this would reflect poorly on them. However, even when I saw the video I didn't care where he worked. It didn't really cross my mind.

This then made me think that there was something else going on and they were looking for a pretext to fire him. I'm not here to bash the company at all. This kind of attitude and idiocy needs to be stopped. My experience has been when something fairly little like this happens and someone gets fired that quick its been a long time coming. Judging by his attitude and actions, I can't say I'd want to work with someone like that.

The employee at Chick Fil A handled herself tremendously well. She deserves some recognition from the company too. If they had a good PR firm working for them I'd take the clip and put it out there for what is right with the company in the face of anger.

I agree with you in part; but let's look at what happened with Chick-fil-A. Do you really want a public relations scenario that says you're now defending one of your employees (and your company) against that amount of Chick-fil-A support? Or do you really want your company associated with the kind of silly-stupidness one of your top employees just exhibited to the entire world?

His work ethic probably matched his behavior on the video. Maybe the company used this as an excuse to rid themselves of a bad worker.

They guy was a jerk. Good for his employer. The girl in the window is just working to earn a living and does not set corporate policy.

Which company is most likely going to be sued by who?

Why do you think that company will be sued?

Wrongful termination?

They guy doesn't have a leg to stand on with such a claim.

Of course that doesn't mean that he won't bring a suit anyway.
If he was radical enough to make a video about what he did I think he will find an attorney to sue. Many attorneys take these at no up front costs. My guess with the current court mind set he could easily win.
