Democrat Governor facing pressure to resign over infanticide, blackface scandals.
Democrat Lieutenant Governor, next in line, accused of sexual assault at the Democrat National Convention.
Democrat Attorney General, next in line, now in his own blackface scandal...

Political Turmoil in Virginia

"If Northam, Fairfax and Herring all resign, the state's speaker of the House of Delegates, Kirk Cox, would become governor. Cox is a Republican."

The next in line to be Governor is the Republican Speaker of the House.

And there is a Republican Speaker of the House of Delegates in Virginia because one of the statewide races in 2017 was a tie and the winner was chosen by drawing names from a bowl. Republican David Yancey won the "coin toss". This allowed Republicans to take a razor thin 51-50 majority in the Virginia House of Delegates, which got them the Republican Speaker, who is third in the line of succession for governor.

Interesting, considering we just had discussion on the board about casting lots.

Okay, a week later, where does it stand? They're all three still in office but I think Fairfax especially is in a lot of trouble and he's the most likely of the three to resign first.

All of them are standing pat, and the VA AG will never resign unless the governor does, Justin has two women already, and there's a couple of them in the shadows. Toast.

Secretary of State nominee Pedro Pierluisi attempted to sieze governorship without Senate confirmation

"Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia is a Puerto Rican attorney, lobbyist, and politician who served as de facto governor of Puerto Rico from August 2 to August 7, 2019...the territory's Supreme Court ruled his assumption of office was unconstitutional."

"Pierluisi, a member of New Progressive and the national Democratic Party was appointed the acting Secretary of State of Puerto Rico in July 2019, and assumed the office of governor on August 2, 2019 upon the resignation of Ricardo Rosselló....On August 5, 2019, the Puerto Rico Senate filed a lawsuit against his appointment as governor. Two days later, the Puerto Rico Supreme Court ruled that Pierluisi was sworn in on unconstitutional grounds and removed him from office, effective 5 p.m. AST on August 7, to be replaced by Wanda Vázquez Garced, the Secretary of Justice."

GOP-aligned Wanda Vásquez is now governor after Pierluisi's illegal power grab was thwarted:

La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez se "inclina hacia la filosofía republicana"
La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez Garced reveló en una entrevista con Telemundo 51 que se inclina hacia "filosofías republicanas" y reiteró que una de sus prioridades es reunirse con el presidente Donald Trump.
