All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
    Edmund Burke

I can vote and pray for our leaders at the same time... :saint:

The Bible discusses a lot more than rules on marriage and the nature of life in the womb. It has quite a bit to say about taking care of the poor, meeting the needs of widows and orphans, working for the welfare of children, redeeming people from debt and slavery, working for justice, living a life of honesty, serving the weak and oppressed, self-denial, and caring for the aliens in your land.

Neither the Republicans or Democrats adequately support a Christian social position. Be very selective in your voting instead of simply voting along party lines.

II Timoth 2:4 - No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

Well I suppose if you want to entangle yourself in the affairs of this life that is up to you, but it is not our calling. It is not our war. And it is not our battlefield.

    Philippians 3:20 - For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

Notice the word citizenship. It is conversation in the KJV. In Greek it is the word politeuma. Does it sound like a popular English word around this time of year?

Our politics is in heaven not on this earth. We belong to a King Who's kingdom is not of this world system. So if that is true, and it is, why dabble in Satan's system?

If I always voted according to the Bible I would not vote for a publican. They were crooks. Is there any connection between a publican and republican? I hope not.

I would hope that nobody would vote according to the politics and ethics we see in some churches today. Some of the worst ethics and political footballs are in churches. On the flip side though, are churches which are the opposite and are doing what the gospel dictates.

We always vote for people who are pro life and anti gay marriage, those are the most important things to us in politics. We are christians first and US citizens second, our vote has to reflect who we are as christians.

On Tuesday, vote according to your Bilble, folks....make sure that your candidate is pro life and also anti homosexual marriage.

You mean like the bloke who just confessed that he was into a homosexual lifestyle whilst preaching against it?

    I am confused!

    Cheers,

It's an American thing, Jim....not easy for others to understand....it's like the siblings fighting, but let someone attack one of the siblings, and the family unites....like we did after 9/11

Unfortunately, we have to do double duty....pray AND vote...because everyone else is just voting.

And yet we have the gaul to for our form of government on other countries? Our voting rate is near the bottom of free societies. Is that something we should be proud of?

Yep Jim, there are some happy Democrats this morning and some dismayed Republicans.

For my part, the Republicans I voted for won and also the Democrats I voted for won(with just one exception). Since I believe holding to a specific party line is what gets folks like Foley and Haggart into office, I voted for the one I thought best for the office(education and experience) and who best represented my interest (personal stand on the issues, whatever they might be for a particular office).

It really doesn't take that much time and effort to find out what these guys stand for.

Personally, I believe our two party system works best when one party controls the White House and the other Congress. If one party controls both, then way to much time is spent catering to that party's wants rather than the needs of the county. I'm quite satisfied with the results this morning.

Is this the incumbent rotten governor or an all new rotten governor?

Alabama has done it all the last few decades. I'm glad that right now we have a mostly sane governor with no big ethics problems (though there has been some question about how he pays his property taxes).

It's the incumbent rotten governor, Blagojevich. Although, if Topinka had won, we would have had an all new rotten governor. She was a terrible choice as the Republican nominee.

It is the rotten incumbent governor that followed the last rotten incumbent governor. We've had 12 years in a row of rotten now.

Of course, CC is right. All we had to choose from is rotten...

What's frustrating about it is who they ran against RB. Topinka? Really? She's the best they had? The Illinois GOP seemed to concede defeat months ago. Evidently, they looked at RB's war chest and decided they couldn't compete, so decided not to run a strong candidate. The kicker is that RB was vulnerable. Considering all the federal probes going on around him and his inherent sliminess, he could have been unseated, but they trotted out Topinka of all people. :BangHead:

It never fails to amaze me how some people get picked to run for office.

We just lucked up with Riley 4 years ago and I have had my doubts about him. He (and the Republican party) ignored totally one of my pet issues (disability rights) during this campaign. The democrats were willing to talk. Riley still got the vote because his challenger was from one of Montgomery's "fixture families" and this state is finally figuring out that if they couldn't get the job done honestly in the past, they aren't going to get it done in the future. A cat can't change it's colors!

But, the winner of the leutinent gov race is another "fixture" and should have been voted out. Blech! Oh well, at least I can say I didn't vote him in!
