So one person can be against a certain action, and all he or she has to do is keep on arguing and gets his or her way? And what 's the significant difference voting in this sense and in the "traditional" sense?

That is where the moderator comes in. A person should only be given a certain amount of time to make his case. And the moderator needs to take charge.

Now - if that person has a good point - then it should be tabled and go back to a comttie or other appropriate action.

Can someone explain why would a pastor want to pastor a church where his position and responsibility can be challenged by a majority vote and not the maturity of the elders who know him best?

It is not the pastors who are responsible for this upside down arrangement in most of our Baptist churches—it is the members who are responsible.
