Excellent observations about 'Conservative' punditry.

Wait…Alex Jones is an Actor?! Actually, He’s Not the Only One

Many people seemed to be delighted by the revelation that “right-wing” conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was forced to admit in a child custody battle that he is just a “performance artist” playing “a character” who doesn’t really believe all of the crazy things that he says. After all, it doesn’t get much more satisfying than when a fraud is forced to confess that is what they are in order to try to get something they want.

I think it is amusing that none of Trump's devotees have been willing so far to rebut this.

What's to rebut? Nobody with an IQ greater than his hat size puts any stock in Jones' ravings.

As many times as you guys have claimed 'Fake News', I would have expected one when your icons of truth are challenged.
Why do you consider it necessary to make false accusations against anyone who disagrees with your political naivety?

Please list all the names of BB members who have said they consider Alex Jones an "icon of truth."

If you can't perhaps you owe the BB members an apology.

It wasn't a good look to have our future President sitting in on his show.
Optics are a function of the news media, and means far less than they would have us believe.

I once sat in on a panel discussion of 20th century Christendom. On that panel with me was a Catholic Priest, an Orthodox Rabbi, a Pentecostal Preacher (woman), and a Lutheran pastor.

The optics may not have been good, implying my agreement with them, but I was not there to agree with them. I was there to express my position on the matters under discussion.

Early in his campaign Candidate Trump did a lot of things to expand his media exposure, some of them not really well thought out when viewed in retrospect. :)

I don't see that as the same as Trump calling Alex Jones amazing and then calling him to thank him for getting him elected right after the election. Alex Jones is far from amazing and his audience deserves no credibility that a person running for President of the United States gives them by entertaining them.

This isn't something that is a one off incident either. Just this week he aligned himself with what is essentially a dictator in Turkey by congratulating him on killing Democracy in that country. Its a trend that isn't stopping and imo should be alarming to anyone.

Quite true.

Did President Trump realize that Jones was a "performance artist" when he called him "amazing?"

Alex Jones has claimed that the Sandy Hook massacre was a staged "false flag" operation and has claimed the parents are faking their tremendous grief. This is an appalling position to take (no matter what you think about the Second Amendment) and only adds to the pain of many innocent families and a community. It is repulsive.

Yet President Trump has lent legitimacy to Jones by his appearances on his program.

*laugh*

Perhaps you should read the article before accusing others of, well... falsely accusing others.

There is no apology necessary.

Precisely. Article lists several other right wing commentators that have become play-actors at conservatism in their zeal to defend Trump. There are plenty of people on BB that have defended Hannity, Limbaugh, Hewitt, etc.

Again, with this fascination with left vs right that consumes so many in this country. Conservatives will end up doing more harm than good with their blind support for a President that is disliked by the far left, moderates and even some of the far right base. The Democrats will have so much momentum going into 2018 as long as his carelessness in what he says and how he behaves is continued to allow to go unchecked.

There have only been 6 other Presidents in U.S. history to get a lesser percentage of the popular vote than Trump. Only 10 more that got lesser percentage of the electoral vote than Trump. His only hope in 2020 is that Democrats put another Hilary Clinton type candidate. 2018 is looking pretty grim right now.

I am honestly saddened that our President has supported a President in Turkey that has denied basic democracy to its citizens. I am saddened that he has embraced and complimented a base that follows Alex Jones. I wish more people would stop supporting billion dollar parties and demand better from our Government instead of getting into this childish Liberal vs Conservative toxic conversation that is non stop.
