All the more reason not to tip. Giving someone a tip is calling them a slave.

regardless of what someone may call them fact is they are working for you for free when you don’t tip. If the restaraunt new you were going to stiff your server do you think they would let you stay? Nope they would tell you to go elsewhere

In Acts, believers shared meals together and Communion. So I see it purely as superstition concerning why they should not do it.
“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.” Romans 14:5–6 (KJV 1900)

Actually, the restaurant would not. I tip and tip good. My point is the whole tipping thing is Bravo Charlie. Price your service at the expected price and get paid your posted price.

so you'd prefer to have some European system. where a gratuity of something like seventeen percent is automatically tacked on?

There are positive and negative things about that - service will tend to be more uniform in quality but never outstanding.

I would prefer the price on the menu to be an all inclusive price.
My employees don't work off tips.
The entire concept is stupid. If a tip really is for exceptional service, then only exceptional service should get a tip.

Then how do you propose the system be changed?

I wonder how many waitresses would prefer the current system.

I have asked several people I know about tipping from Christians and every one of them said that they were the best tippers and most polite crowd they served. Maybe it's just my area, but I have never believed that Christians are poor tippers.

So what part of the county do you hail from?
