There are no indications that this shooting was racially motivated.
None at all.
But I'm sure the race baiters will be out in force. Even right here on BB.
See sometimes people need to just be quiet because they make everyone else with a little sense look stupid. Willful ignorance should not be waved around like a red badge of courage.
Of course this was about race and racially motivated. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to get his head checked.
So let me allow someone else to explain this to the willfully ignorant:
For those who are still confused about why the killing of Walter Scott is about race, here's why: Because as I'm getting dinner at my Philadelphia hotel, I overhear two white people discussing the event, and one of them says "why do black people run from police...if they wouldn't run this wouldn't happen.."
That's why.
Now, excuse me while I go answer that question, and excuse me please for not being kind as I do so...I mean, I'll try but I'm not going to obsess about it ..Despite the new movement wisdom, with which I generally agree, to the effect that white folks need to be "called in" to the work, rather than called out, the fact is, some folks really do need to be called out, and this is one.
Letting them know that not all white people agree with their nonsense is more important than trying to turn them into progressive/left activists. They aren't going to be brought into the work, as is true for most white folks. They simply need to be neutralized. Some folks can be saved and some cannot. I think we need to face that reality and not be Pollyana about how people can be brought over to our side with the right argument or with decent engagement or compassion. Sorry, but I've been white long enough to know better...I think letting folks know that their views are unacceptable, period, is more valuable than insisting that they go read Audre Lorde or bell hooks and then get back to us (as if they would do these things to begin with). This naive leftist view that everyone is redeemable is the kind of thing only believable by people with very little experience in the world outside of their little leftist bubbles...I'm just trying to be honest here. I believe in being kind to people, but I do not accept this notion, increasingly popular among some, that somehow we don't call people out harshly for their indifference to black and brown suffering because we believe, for some unknown reason, that they're really all potential revolutionaries if they just read a little more Gramsci or whatever...no, no they are not...
