My opinion: from the Hamas side they've been at war for years, including all of the year 2012. I just got the newsletter of a friend who has a ministry in Israel. He writes, "Since January 2012, 1,333 Hamas rockets have hit Israel. According to Israelproject.org 325 Hamas rockets hit Thursday, November 15, 2012."

I was in a missionary conference this year with this man, and he showed a video of the rocket bombing. On and near the border, kids in schools have just ten seconds of warning before the rocket hits. That's ten seconds to get downstairs to the safe basement, sometimes from the 2nd or 3rd floor. The video showed Israeli children and adults in total shock after bombs hit, able to do nothing but stand or sit and tremble. But does the US media show this stuff? Never.

Because of this war, literally millions and millions of Israeli children go to bed hungry every night. The Israeli government must put all their money into defense, so a large percentage of Israelis are in dirt poor, 3rd world situtations.

Absolutely, and it's terrible.

The Pentagon awarded $667.2 million in contracts in 2012, and more than $1 billion during Barack Obama’s first term in office for construction projects in largely autocratic Middle Eastern nations, according to figures provided to TomDispatch by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District (USACE-MED). More than $178 million in similar funding is already anticipated for 2013. These contracts represent a mix of projects, including expanding and upgrading military bases used by U.S. troops in the region, building facilities for indigenous security forces, and launching infrastructure projects meant to improve the lives of local populations.

The figures are telling, but far from complete. They do not, for example, cover any of the billions spent on work at the more than 1,000 U.S. and coalition bases, outposts, and other facilities in Afghanistan or the thousands more manned by local forces. They also leave out construction projects undertaken in the region by other military services like the U.S. Air Force, as well as money spent at an unspecified number of bases in the Middle East that the Corps of Engineers “has no involvement with,” according to Joan Kibler, chief of the Middle East District’s public affairs office.

And we paid for this

Our own troops won't be sitting under it though because our best friends won't share the technology with us.

We've got it so much better over here? How many of our children will go to bed hungry tonight so our government can keep pumping billions into our global war machine? And all to aid a bunch of Islamic terrorists that'll turn on us as soon as our back it turned?
1/3 of Israel is 3rd world. I've been to a 3rd world Muslim country, and the people there were far poorer than anywhere in the US I've ever seen (and we traveled 30,000 miles around the US this past year on furlough).

Give it another four or five years boss. The global elite have just now chewed down to our bones won't be long and they'll be sucking the marrow out them like they have every other third world country on the planet.

If we're going to stay the unipolar superpower the neocons want us to be then we can't let them muslim countries pick themselves up. Better to keep em divided and killing each other. More money for the bankers and the weapons makers and to pay off the Taliban drug lords.

You know what. I give up. You guys don't care about this country any more than the moneychangers do. :wavey:

Why are you saying "you guys" to me? I don't know you from Adam, haven't interacted with you on the BB that I remember, don't know what you believe politically and you don't know what I believe. I went to a Muslim country to do good, to tell them about Jesus. I'd love to see that country do better economically--one of the poorest in the world with few natural resources.

John, I would say poncho is just spitting out liberal talking points, but what he is saying is even more radical than that. Sounds even left of MSNBC....

Like the book of Revelation says, this is both bitter and sweet. I really do believe we are a short time from the fourth seal. A time when alomst 2 billion people will die from war and famine. Christ will be here soon enough!

Iraq has called on energy-rich Arab states to use oil as a weapon to counter the US and Israel, as Tel Aviv steps up its military operation against the Gaza Strip.
That is really a fine thing after 4000 Americans were killed there. Israel is our only true ally in the Middle East. When a nation, supposedly Christian, plays games with the devil, (Muslim nations), this is exactly what happens. We should have no presence in any Muslim nation. If they mess with us, wipe them out. That is all they understand.

As far as the oil as a weapon problem, we should have been energy independent decades ago. That is our fault. As a temporary solution, I would just take the oil for our nation, especially from Iraq.

Time to go see Allah.
