Understood, Joseph. And I'm sure you understand that dispensational theology per se doesn't produce what that strange woman said.

 

Of course I am open to seeing the other side of the Dispensational argument. I have, however, seen a lot of this strangness expressed quite a bit lately.

I believe that this kind of a statement results when Christians basically combine their conservative politics with their religion. It is absolutely against Jesus teaching that we are in this world but are not to be of this world. We have responsibilities as citizens and there's nothing wrong with patriotism as long as it doesn't get out of hand or mixed with religion.

God Bless America is fine as a prayer to God to bless our land. It is not fine when it's viewed as a fact and it's not acceptable to extend that to believe that we can do anything because we have "God on our side." Some of us do, but most of us do not.

 

vasco i'm praying you are enjoying brazil at this very moment.my advice to you is to intoduse this lady to whats going on in your neck of the world. what i mean is send pictures of the things that are happening in your church and explaine that if God only favors sertian people then have her explain why the souls that have been saved and the reason of the burden of the pastor and why he continues to serve where he is then get along with your duties and stop being bothered by such crazy talk.

Down on the Rio Grande, away from the big cities the Tx side looks just like the Mx side. To God, so do the people. He is no respector of persons or nations.

Nations fearing God I do think are blessed by Him. I don't know if I classify the US in that group today though.(just my $0.02 : expect a lot of change back though,, as usual)

there are several that start that way. the point is that anyone regarless of nationality or race or whatever can gain right standing with God by accepting Christ.
