Was the Bush Administration Fascist?

Ya gotta start somewhere. The Wiemar republic wasn't always a fascist dictatorship. It morphed into one after certain steps were taken to go from one state to the other. Basically all anyone has to do is compare Germany's history with what the neocons have done since taking power.

1. The Weimar Republic was the first German experience at democracy--we have been doing it for a long long time.

2. They had huge armed private armies (of the left and the right), and political violence was common.

3. Even the President of Weimar, Von Hindenburg himself, wanted the republic done away with and the Kaiser brought back.

4. By the time Hitler took over, the Weimar was dead.

Then you'd think we'd already know what fascism is. But from the looks of it we don't.

Blackwater USA. Homeland Security, enabling act (patriot act(s), military commissions act), militarized police, military used for law enforcement in conus. To mention just a few. These fall under other points on the "list". I'll be posting some stuff on them later. Did I mention the national ID card?

Our republic functions just fine. It is almost impossible to get anything done--which is how the Founders designed it. If you want to compare Blackwater Security to the millions of Nazi storm troopers and Freikorps members, it is your right, just like you could say that the moon is made of green cheese, but it isn't, and we aren't on the road to facism.

In my class, that would be an F. If you think the KY State Police or FBI are like the Gestapo, you are simply beyond help.

The very fact that you can speak of such things in public disproves all of your assertions.

Both the far left and far right have their fantasies, black helicopters and all that--but they are fabrications of minds looking for drama.

Here's what I think Major. I've only started laying my case out here. Haven't even finished with the first of the 14+ characteristics of fascism on my "list" and already you're trying to give me a failing grade before I even start the project in earnest.

What kind of teacher does that? One that doesn't want the project to continue on maybe?

I've still got 13 + characteristics to cover. But I do appreciate you pitching in and giving us another fine example of how the Goering factor is used to silence dissent and deflect criticism away from the great leader and the state. I'll give you an E for effort on that because you tried it but failed. I see it for the "emotional lava" it is.

BTW, you were describing a Nazi dictatorship, not fascism. I'm giving you an F over all for not paying attention in class. We're talking about fascism and it's characteristics in this one, not dictatorships. They come later.

If you're paying attention now go back to the first pages of this thread and you'll find my definition of fascism laid out quite well over several posts if I do say so myself. Like I said before the cookie cutter Wikipedia definitions (like you apparently rely on) leave alot to be desired as they (like you) tend to describe a Nazi dictatorship instead of fascism. Common enough mistake though so I understand the confusion.

But I have to give you a failing grade just the same because as a teacher you should already know these things.
