...Most Baptist churches I'm familiar with are all over the landscape. In my own congregation I know of at least three different views among our members.
That's about the way it is with PBs, though I dare say Amil probably dominates.

Can you explain this... cause I don't see it in there. But I did read it very quickly.

A general resurrection and a general judgment rule out any pre-millennial position but allows for either amillennial or post millennial.
In the past, there were, other than Christ, those who were resurrected. I know this because it's in the Bible. So to say that any pre-mil position is not supported by the Bible is, as they say, not supported by the Bible.
OldRegular, if you're right (that provisons of the Abstract rule out any pre-millennial position), how in the world could Albert Mohler, a premillennialist along many other faculty at SBTS, honestly serve under the 'Abstract of Principles' regime?
I don't think it precludes premill eschatology. Not if you think of a general resurrection in terms of the thing rather than the event. That all, righteous and wicked, will be resurrected one day even premill's agree. If that is the point of, then this is just as consistent w/ the abstract principles above. And I thought Mohler could walk on water. Goes to show you. Nevertheless show me how a general resurrection of all the dead is consistent with premillennial eschatology.

Now if you force the words to mean 1 event, then yes I see the tension, although it is not insurmountable.
Tom Butler and I go to the same church. When I first joined in 1977 (he had already been there several years), most were pre trib mils. Before that, I had been a Presbyterian (PCA), and generally agreed with them. I was very young and fascinated by the Hal Lindsey books. About that time, we called a pastor who did not believe in that order of events, in fact, he was more post trib. He challenged us to come up with a verse that proved pre trib, and none of us could do it.
Since then, Tom generally has moved more to a post trib belief. I have moved from a pre trib belief to not being sure of what I think. The three positions in our church are pre trib, post trib, and mid trib. I am not sure about the different mil positions. I have read and reread the verses in Daniel, Revelations, Ezekiel, Corinthians, and Thes., and can fit each position into the same verses. I really wish I could settle on one position, but to date, no luck.
So even the Abstract's own champions don't buy OldRegular's 'spin' on it.
The same choplogic underlies OR's take on the early Baptist confessions. In another thread I quoted prominent signers of the Baptist confessions preaching contrary to what OR says those confessions 'have to' mean. Bizarre.

Jesus Christ is the first and only resurrection to date. There is no Scripture of anyone being raised from the dead with the resurrection body as Jesus christ had!
That being said, premillennial eschatology is not consistent with a general resurrection.
At the moment I'm historic pre-mil, but I'm not dogmatic about it. I could very well be something else tomorrow.
