Can't use a term like redskins nowadays, and I understand why. It's just like my favorite wrestler, Wahoo McDaniel, who came to the ring wearing an Indian headdress. That could not be used in pro wrestling nowadays.

Sure I can - just that some people don't like.
But there are things I don't like - but I don't cry about it!

Commanders? I'd prefer the Washington Washboards.
Tom Landry could never have done that famous American Express commercial if they hadn't been the Redskins.

James 3:6-10 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Lots of things used to be accepted in this country that are not accepted nowadays - slavery, Jim Crow laws, etc. Just because something may have been accepted in the past does not mean it has to be accepted in 2021, especially among Christians who are not supposed to live like the world does.

Interesting statement - yet many still want to vilify the past for actions that were acceptable in the past

    And Jesus said:

Did Jesus ever say anything mean to anyone?

You are not God the Father. You are not God the Son. You are not God the Holy Spirit.

You, or I, or any other human being with Adam's fallen nature, do not have perfect judgment nor perfect righteousness; our only "perfection" is being a "perfect" sinner.

Being accepted is not the same as being right. However, I do sympathize at times when it comes to judging people in past ages based on modern day mores.

NOT supposed to live like the world does? So if something that was widely accepted by the world is no longer accepted by the world, should we be like the rest of the world and no longer accept it? Or should we live NOT like the rest of the world?

@Salty @Alcott Look, fellas, if y'all want to keep calling them the Washington Redskins, y'all certainly have the power to do so.

Even if one doesn't plan to do so, one might do so accidentally simply because of years of habit until the new name takes hold.

    Not only the Redskins
But locally our (AAA baseball) Syracuse Chiefs were bought by the
    New York Mets in 2019
Immediately the the Mets changed the name of our beloved team to the Syracuse Chiefs.

Our team since 1934 has been know as the Chiefs

I will not go to a game until they are once again the Syracuse Chiefs!

It is certainly within your power to withhold your attendance.

A Facebook group I used to check in on occasionally-- I Hate the Washington Redskins-- doesn't seem to be there any more.

I really wish that conversations in the United States would stop with throwing around the pejoratives, "Fascist" and "Communist". Debates in this country sound more and more like junior high kids than adult conversation.
