One of the sad realities of America's great divide, is that something started in one administration is now stopped in the next, such as energy independence or border security.
If the construction cannot be completed during the authorizing administration (4 to 8 years) the next administration will stop the endeavor and simply waste all the funds already expended. Think pipeline or border wall.
Now one of the long standing problems of America is the distribution of water, with the lands east of the Rocky Mountains getting enough and sometimes more than enough (i.e. flooding) but the lands west of the Rockies getting just enough or not enough water.
Now it may (and that is great big "may" ) be possible to study water supply levels and determine if water could be pumped and routed via canals from the Great Lakes area to Lake Powell, and from areas in the Mississippi River watershed to Lake Mead.
However, no such possibility can be explored because our derelict press lacks the competence to present technical issues accurately.
Simple questions to ask, why do we not have enough water? Or enough electrical generation capacity? Or enough fossil fuel domestic production?
