We Should Have a Forum for Testimonies

I recommend that we have a separate forum for testimonies. I believe it should be up in the Baptist Board Forums by the New Member Introductions Forum. It would allow us to engage in a more personal and humanizing way with each other. It may also give new members another way of introducing themselves.

I myself was recommended this by @SGO. I hope we see the new forum soon. I had to put my own testimony into odd places such as General Baptist or the Praises and Prayer Requests Forums.

Praise God for Saving Me Four Years Ago!

No we shouldnt

I ve seen that type stuff. The stories get wild and weird

I got kicked out of a church for calling a person to task for this very thing ie God had a literal hand that rested on his chest during a heart attack

Agreed.
While it would be fantastic to know what God is doing and has done in a person's life, testimonies can easily become self-centered stages to "one-up" the next person and essentially (openly) brag about oneself.
There is plenty of opportunity to speak from personal experience within any given topic. People can glean from those comments what God has done in sanctifying you from darkness to light.

I would point to the men’s only forum that rarely sees any posts. Although it seems like a good idea, I am weary of posting very personal info in a public forum.

There is one poster here that revealed in a PM that he had struggled with a particular sin. That info was repeated in a public debate to attack him.

Some folks will take your very personal info and use it, twist it, weaponize it in debates.

Nothing prevents someone from sharing a testimony now. But I would be careful how detailed we get.

Peace to you

I hope that person was suspended or even banned. It is difficult for me to believe a Believer would do such a thing.

I don’t know the outcome and it’s been several years. I only know that as I read a thread the allegation was made against a poster. That person responded that the info had been revealed in confidence in a private message.

Peace to you

If you have talked to many people who have lived through heart attacks, I am sure he really believes that.

That just means they need help understanding how to write their testimony. I learned a lot from you guys on this board to write my own testimony. This is like my fourth attempt linked in the OP. Based on @SGO I seem to have nailed it. I needed to learn to lead with the Gospel and Jesus Christ. I needed to learn to write a brief but engrossing story. I needed to know I'm a sinner unworthy of heaven, and write to convince others of their need for a savior.

This is probably the best question ever asked on the board. If there is a move to do this, may I suggest that this forum be the lead and go before all the other topics.

I strongly suggest this be considered and developed ASAP. Thanks to the questioner, and may the Holy Ghost guide the forum leaders not only in making this happwn, but in letting it LEAD off all subject matter. SHALOM!!!

If that is what one believes why take exception to it? What does "calling a person to task" accomplish for you?

Because its heresy and there were several there taken in by it!!

God does not have body parts like you and I

BTW, the pastor cared nothing for the flock and found out the next Sunday morning when he had about 30-40 people there that he should have taken an orthodox stand instead of throwing his hands up and going oh well believe what you will

There were actually 3 families thrown out and they went out and started their own church with several other former families

Maybe you should change the title to "Prayer Requests, Praise, and Testimonies." Dave G and I felt my testimony should go in that forum, and that's where I placed it. But those not in the know, such as new members, may like the clear direction.
If it were up to the current Admin team, we'd have done so already. However, in the current state of affairs. Editing a forum title or adding a forum is an ownership action.

I refuse to allow blatant heresy yo go unchallenged esp in a church service

I confronted this one the week after when I had the childrens teaching in service.

I talked to them about God being a Spirit, not having flesh and bone. See John 4:20-25
