The rest of the dead, that is, all other men who died, the unbelieving dead, lived not until the thousand years are finished.

So at least this commentator acknowledges the thousand years, even if he tries to dance around it and spiritualize Scripture to no meaning.

When that period is finished, then there is a change. Then they enter ‘the second death’. In other words, they receive everlasting punishment: not only as for the soul but now also for the body.

And what is not mentioned is that they are resurrected.

So the answer to whether there are one or two resurrections in Revelation 20, the answer is really very simple, there are two:

Revelation 20:4-6 King James Version

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

While it is not explicitly stated that this is a resurrection, we know they live again based on v.5. They are resurrected into bodies suitable for eternal damnation.

They still lack the life of Christ which we receive when we are born again/from above/of God through faith in Christ.

The change is not for better but for the worse. On the other hand, those who have part in the first resurrection are blessed and holy. Over them the second death has no power. Not only shall they reign with Christ, but they shall also worship God in Christ as priests throughout the thousand years (Rev. 1:6; 5:10)."

- from William Hendriksen's More Than Conquerors

Here he goes back to the jumbled teaching that "souls reign now in this dispensation," and when they receive their glorified bodies in the first resurrection, then they reign forever:

The souls reign during this entire present dispensation until Christ’s second coming. Afterwards, it is no longer the souls that reign, for then body and soul are together again. Then the saints reign, not for a limited though lengthy period—a thousand years—but ‘for ever and ever’ (22: 5).

I only have two words for the product of this commentator:

Ineffable Twaddle.

I might also throw in, "don't quit your day job."

Ahem. In the post above there are these two sentences: "The first resurrection is the translation of the soul from this sinful earth to God’s holy heaven. It is followed at Christ’s second coming by the second resurrection when the body, too, will be glorified." (emphasis mine)

The emphasis is yours but the words aren't.

Are there one or two resurrections in Revelation 20, Ken?

A simple one or two will suffice.

The Cross of Christ was and is the only basis that the Father could ever remit sins and justify lost sinners!

If you read the Scripture already addressing that erroneous statement, you will see that men did in fact receive remission of sins through the sacrifice of animals.

But they could not receive remission of sins on an eternal basis in an eternal context. Only the Sacrifice of Christ could do that, as has been shown numerous times in this thread.

Numbers 15:24-26
King James Version

24 Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the Lord, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.

25 And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord, and their sin offering before the Lord, for their ignorance:

26 And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.[/QUOTE]

Leviticus 4:20
And he shall do with the bullock as he did with the bullock for a sin offering, so shall he do with this: and the priest shall make an atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them.

Leviticus 4:31
And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto the Lord; and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.

So read these verses and tell me, if God says He will forgive them for offering the sacrifice, why would you (or anyone else) deny that?

God bless.

Okay, I will repost it and you can reply if you want to, but I am not going to get into a back-and-forth on it. The post will stand on its own and your post can stand on its own, as far as my participation is concerned.

I appreciate it.

Now, can you just answer the question?

Are there one or two resurrections in Scripture?

I doubt you will read my responses but I responded to each separately to make it easier.

Just answer the question, please.

God bless.

It is quite apparent, Darrell C, that you have great learning, yet your criticism is mere trash.

How can they, when it was required to have someone die in our stead as our substitute?

It is apparent that Darrell C has become ensnared in some kind of weird man-made gibberish that he has been falsely led to believe is the gospel.

Seems to be hard core Dispy, teaching that sinners were saved different ways under old and new Covenants!

The shed blood of the real lamb of God remitted their sins!

For the tenth time, Yeshua1, correct.

Their sins were forgiven through vicarious animal sacrifice until Christ. They had to sacrifice oftentimes and continually because those sacrifices could not take away sins, nor the penalty for sin.

But Christ's offering of Himself once made men complete in regards to remission of sins.

So, animal sacrifice: over and over to continue receiving remission of sins.

Christ's Sacrifice: remission of sins forever through the One Sacrifice.

God bless.

P.S.-I fixed the code for you.

That's funny, because usually trash doctrine is pretty easy to dismiss.

Yet you can't answer a single point.

Nor can you produce a single support for your gospel.
