The Redeemed are given eternal life, and are made partakers of the divine nature.

But the guy you're debating thinks this world was created to save people or spirits who sinned before Creation, and that is wholly against the Scriptures.
he seems to be rehasing Mormonism 101 theology in this situation!

Please clarify by what you mean by saying the Christ’s soul died. Thanks a bushel
It is so prophesied. ". . . make His soul an offering for sin, . . ." -- Isaiah 53:10. ". . . He hath poured out soul unto death . . . ." -- Isaiah 53:12.

The physical body of jesus died, but NOT His soul/spirit, as that is Deity, and can never die!

Jesus body dies, just as ours will, Our eternal person will live

Hebrews include the body sometimes when using soul as the whole person nephesh , ruwach as oppossed to the different words to distinguish the use of only the body

These verses do not say soul , as the Greek pnuema uses it
* The Greek for soul is psychen ψυχην.
* The word of God teaches the soul is mortal (Ezekiel 18:4; James 5:20).
* Death is a separating, not an annihilation.
* Jesus taught that killing the body does not kill the soul (Matthew 10.28).
* Jesus also taught that Hell (we understand as the second death Revelation 21:8) is where both body and soul perish (Matthew 10:28) meaning that both body and soul die.
* Now an secondary importance to Jesus' death of His soul on the cross is He was conscious, just as the dead souls in the second death are conscious for all eternity, being forsaking by God (Psalm 22:1; Psalm 22:6; Mark 9:48).
* Jesus finished the redemption on the cross before He physically died (John 19:28; John 19:30)!

he nver ceased being God, nor ever died as God!
A number of things. First, God never dies. Second, the Son of God as God (John 1:3; Hebrews 1:3) did not cease being God. Thirdly, being fully God and actually dying on the cross (being forsaken by God the Father), God died on the cross. Fourtly, He died as a man after His soul was restored (John 19:30; Luke 23:46).

His soul was always God, correct, so was restored frtom what?

Jesus soul had to be restored before as a man He physically died, else He would not have been resurrected (Acts 2:27). That is how I understand this.

The soul, itself does not die but lives on, as ours does. The resurrection is proof He did as He said, and was God
