For example, many if not all the Democrats.
No need to throw in your pejorative partisan political jabs into a non-political thread, Van.

Apparently "the border is secure" didn't ring in the blue dorm.No need to throw in your pejorative partisan political jabs into a non-political thread, Van.
I don't know. You would have to ask someone who is in the "blue dorm".Apparently "the border is secure" didn't ring in the blue dorm.
Searchers very influential movie as Lucas, Spielberg, Lean, etc all looked at that and used it in their moviesThe American culture that embraced "Westerns" has aged pretty much out of existence.
I used to watch western's on TV in 1950, with John Wayne, James Steward, Hop-a-long Cassidy, and of course the Lone Ranger.
But the idea of people with their word as their bond is no longer. The non-stop disinformation that floods the media today means the people are willing to elect and re-elect known for false statements people. For example, many if not all the Democrats. The border is secure ring a bell?
Recently I watched one of my favorites, Saddle Tramp with Joel McCrea. Another is Tumbleweed with Audie Murphy. Of course the two best are "The Searchers" with John Wayne, and "Shane" with Alan Ladd.
The original to me seemed like James Bond in the wild westRobert Conrad (original James West) hated that movie, he even attended the razzie awards and accepted the razzie for " wild wild west," which won the worst picture award.
"We all have it coming kid""You talkin about the Queen again Bob?"

Lately, been watch a lot on GRITtv
Rare exceptions
Interesting to me that Clint Eastwood kept asking John Wayne to star with him in a western, but Wayne kept telling him no, due to eastwood being very amoral type of antihero like in high plains drifter and man with no name, while Wayne though should be real black and white differences between hero and villainThis thread gave me a craving to start watching westerns. Been watching the old poverty row John Wayne movies all weekend.
2 of the best were mannion and the Widow maker, and had same actor in both as the main baddieAs a millennial, I have enjoyed watching a decent amount of Gunsmoke episodes.

Think was Steve Forrest of Swat tv show, as both of his characters were very few that could outdraw marshall Matt Dillion , and think first movie was Mannion when he got out of jail and went gunning for Matt DillionOh yes, good actor. He also came back for one of the movies in the 90’s.
