Well.....a fair skinned, blue eyed 1st century Jew is not the stereotype anyway (there were fair skinned, blue eyed Jews). Also, we can't ignore the inclusion of Gentiles when listing Jesus' ancestry.

My point? Maybe a dark skinned, browned eye image of Jesus is "creating another Jesus". ;)

I think of Jesus as having the traits of a stereotypical Jew. But we really dont know.

Yes, children of Roman rape may have had those characteristics and some non-believing "Christians" had suggested He was a child of rape. He was not, White like me. Though there were Gentiles in the tree, they would have also been a medium brown or so. If He had been anything other shade of the average Jew He would have stood out in the crowd and the Word said there was nothing that would make us drawn to Him by His physique.

I didn't think about that. I was thinking more of the Gentile women in Jesus' ancestry and the rise of the Chalcolithic culture in the Galilee region centuries before Jesus' birth.

Then I wonder if his appearance being nothing that would draw others to Him could indicate that he appeared less than the ideal Jew to those peoole. There are several cultures where having lighter skin and blue eyes would be taken as lowly birth.

I still think of His appearance as the stereotypical Jewish appearance. But something could be said for thinking His appearance was what they would consider low.

As far as people picturing Jesus to share their physical attributes, I have no problem with it (the practice is not to create an image of how Jesus looked but to present an image of Jesus identifying with them).
