That may have been why my grandmother was against drinking Coke when it first came out...

that and it came in a bottle... like wine....( oh no!!! I had to go mention that!!! ) I really don't want to hi-jack my own thread....!!!!

I use to hear that people would put aspirin in Cokes back then to get a buzz? Has anyone else heard that?

Urban myth from the 1960's. I heard it in high school--also that banana skin would make you high. It didn't.

No, but when I was young they came out with "hadacol" and the women around here were really doing good too. Said they felt the best in years. Finally the Feds outlawed it for having about 38 percent acohol in it. I know they would gather at my aunts and have a hadacol meeting. Don't know if the Holy Ghost was there or not. :BangHead:

There is the legal and illegal use of it. There are a lot of drugs used in hospitals I would hate to see on the streets. That is one good thing about flying. If you fly it is highly unlikely you would ever get hit by a drunk.

Brother Bob, can you define drunkenness for me. It confusses me to understand how you would consider something that is mind-altering such as a drug and claim it's wrong because you would be drunk.

I have always been led to believe that drunkenness is being drunk from wine or beer or other strong drink.

I am not advocating the use of drugs, (other than coffee :) ) but I don't think the logic you're using is correct in saying that you can't use drugs because it's drunkenness. I am sure we can find something in the Bible that states we shouldn't use drugs, but I don't think it's because of the drunkenness theme.

Can you help me to understand your logic in stating this this way?

    Thanks,

    Jamie

Try and eat a banana and while you still have it in your mouth, take a sip of Coke. It's fun!!

I don't know of any Baptist that is against coffee...
That is why I asked the question.... what makes Caffeine good, and alcohol bad? both alter the mind.

I'm not going to judge...(I would be guilty, and we all know that we don't judge when we are guilty ourselves   )

Just curious... Are there some baptists that believes caffeine is wrong?

There were some teens that told me once that in their health class they were taught that nicotene and caffeine were drugs... and so they told me Christians shouldn't use them. I think it was something the school was teaching.:BangHead:

In seminary there was more coffee consumed during the last week of the semester than any other time. I believe there are peole who misuse coffee. Sometimes you can tell by the way they act. A lot of people do not get the sleep they should and use coffee to pep themselves up and then drive in their car to work.
