I have reading this issue through all 10 pages yesterday.

I am not againist sabbath, and Sunday either.

I notice them, none of them are discuss on calendar and pagan relate with Easter, and Sabbath too.

I have not study deep on sabbath issue till 3 years ago. I learned many things, that we have problems with sabbath issues.

I did study sabbath, timing of Christ's death and resurrection in the New Testament of the 4 gospels.

I find out that it do have problems with the timing of Christ's death, and resurrecion.

Many Christians believe Christ died on Wednesday. Some believe Christ died on Thursday. Most believe Christ died on Friday. Which one is correct?

The Bible tells us,Christ died ON the passover day. Christ died BEFORE sabbath day comes. They have to take the body of Christ away rom the cross BEFORE sabbath comes.

Christ's body was finally lie in th tomb at the evening (6 pm) to begin sabbath day.

Christ told them, that He IS the Sabbath - Matt 12:8; and Mark 2:28.

Sabbath means rest, not mean seventh day.

Jesus Christ is our sabbath. If we do not have Jesus, we have NO rest. If we have Jesus, we have REST IN HIM!

Now, lt's discuss on the timing of sabbath. Most saying sabbath is on Saturday.

I have been studying on the seven names of the seven days. It come from pagan, and Roman too. Seven names of seven days are come from the astroigical use by pagan for the purpose is worshipping the idols.

Sunday - sun
Monday - moon
Tuesday - ?( I forget wht the name for Tues)
Wednesday - wood
Thursday - thor
Friday - venus
Saturday - saturn

The calendar was not invent by Jewish, the calendar was invent by Roman Ceasar Julius. We use calendar come from Roman. Because of pagan.

Does the Bible really telling us, that sabbath is Saturday?? Silence! It does not saying it.

Does the Bible really telling us, that Christ risen on Sunday?? Silence! It does not saying it.

It does mentioned, "first day of the week". But notice 'day' is in italic in KJV, mean it was not in Greek translation. 'day' was added by traslators of the English Bible.


So, it is not clearly prove us which exact day Christ died and risen. Do I believe Jesus died - literal? YES! Of course! I does! Do I beleve Jesus risen from the dead - literal? YES Of course! I does!

The problem is, the Bible is not clearly telling us what the exact day when Christ died, and risen.

I know Christ died ON passover day - John 13:1. I know Christ died BEFORE sabbath day - Mark 15:42.

Matt 28:1; and Mark 16:1 telling us, that Mary and her friend went to the tomb on the very early morning, on the first day of the week - after sabbath.

Jesus tells them, Jonah was in whale's belly for full three days and three nights, so, even with Christ shall be in the tomb for three days, and three night - full in Matt 12:40. believe Christ buried in the tomb - full three days and three nights.

If suppose Christ died the day before sabbath is Friday, that means he buried in he tomb for full of three days - Day 1: Saturday Day 2: Sunday Day 3: Monday, he buried for full of three nights - Night 1: Friday Night 2: Saturday Night 3: Sunday.

Which one of them is correct on the timing of Christ's death? NONE! Why? The timing of Christ's deat is lose forever thank to Pagan!

I let you know, I do not think Christ risen on Sunday. I beleve the timing of Christ's risen is lost forever thank to Pagan!

Roman Catholic invented that Christ died on Friday, and he risen on Sunday. Most religions include Baptists adopted Catholic's invent.

Actually, Roman Catholic uses pagan to apply Easter and Christmas.

Easter is pagan, because it is princess of Eastra few hundreds year before Christ. THey worshipped Princess Eastra as their idol god.

Early Church do observe on sabbath, even Paul went to the synagogue to teaching to Christians on sabbaths - Acts 13:14; 42; 44.

None of the scripures anywhere in the New Testament saying that the Christian were gathering togeter to hearing preach, and worship the Lord on Sunday, the first day of the week.

1 Cor. 16:2 does not saying anything about the service of the church onSunday. The context of 1 Cor. 16:1-4 is talking about Christians giving things and store them wait till Paul come and to collecting them bring them to Jerusalem for what people need like as clothing, food, letters, money, etc. Paul told them, put things ON the first day of the month, no one will take things TILL Paul cme and take them bring to Jerusalem.

1 Cor. 16:2 have do nothing with tithes and church service. It is talking about giving things what another Christians need.

First day of the month could be Tuesday or Wednesday either, not just only on Sunday. Notice, Paul does not saying what month - Nissah?? Or another month, I am not good on the name of Jewish caldendar forgive me. Paul's point is, he commnded them to leave the things ON the first day OF the month.

1 Cor. 16:2 do nothing with us. It was Paul's time, that he ASKED to the church of Corinthians in that area.

Now back to sabbath.

Early Church was persecuted under Rome for 300 years, they were thrown in Colossuem to death eaten by wild beasts.

Many Christians were hide in the caves.

In year around 325 A.D. Roman Emperor Constantine invented Roman Catholic, he merged religion and state together. He wa the first Pope. He developed calendar to named Sunday is the first day of the week, it is Chistianity day.

Not what the Bible actually teaching it. Constantine added it.

Obivously, he changed on sabbath to Sunday.

Many Christians refuse adopt his develop. Many were flee hide in the wilerness. Catholics persecuted Christians for many centuries.

Till 18th Century, Christians began to adopted Sunday as sabbath to worship Lord.

Actually, Christians are already compromising with Catholic in the system. That why Rev. 18:4 arnes us, that God commands us, that we must coe out of the system.

I let you know, I am NOT Seventh Day Adventist. I am Baptist. I do not agree on Seventh Day Adventist on sabbath. Because I do not believe Sabbath is actually on Saturday.

Neiter, I do not believe Christ risen on Sunday.

Matt 24:20 - my understanding, it telling us, that the journey will NOT easy, the journey will be much more difficult, the conditional of the journey is tough, they will NOT be under the roof, thy will remain outside anywhere the wilderness in good or bad weather. They will NOT rest during journey. They would have to keep on moving all the time daily for 3 1/2 years, because the soldiers of Antichrist will chase them till capture or arrest and to killed them. That why, Christians have to hide away from being captured and killed.

Do I against Christians going to church on Saturday? NO! I respect them well. Do I against Christians going to church on Sunday? NO! I respect them well. Do I against Christians going to church on Monday? NO! I respect them well.

The problem is, the timing of sabbath, Christ's death and resurrection is already lost forever thank to pagan. No, way we can fix the correct timing. Let God take care of it.

More important that Christians have the right relationship with God by worshipping God in their right atttitde and heart no matter what day they going to church. God knows their heart.

Sabbath means REST. Jesus Christ is our sabbath. We rest on Christ everyday, no matter what happen to us, because we aready have victory in Christ!

I used to go to the Church of God Seventh Day who taught that Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday. I found it an interesting idea, but not true. I think he was crucified on a Thursday. There is an interesting Scripture here John 19:31 "The Jews therfore because it was the preperation, that the bodies should not remain on the crosson the Sabbathday, for THAT Sabbath was a HIGH day, besought Pilate that there legs might be broken and that they might be taken away"

Preperation is the day before Sabbath.

High Sabbaths were an additional Sabbath in the week.

So on this basis we can possibly get Thursday.

Is Saturday the Seventh Day? You are absolutley correct that the Roman calender is different. So how do we know Saturday is the day? Simply because Jesus who was without Sin kept Saturday as the Sabbath. He healed on sabbath, and stated rightly that He is the Lord of the Sabbath. Yet there are plenty of references to Jesus teaching in the Temple on Sabbath, as was His custom etc.

John 4: 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

If "where" we worship is not important then neither is "when" (after all "when" we are resting in Him it's 24/7).

The stone tablets of the Ten Commandments are gone. God’s desires for those in a relationship with Him are not gone, nor have they been changed.

The desires of God’s heart are not changed because they reflect His nature, and His nature is unchangeable.

God’s Law is God’s desire for all mankind. In fact, God is so committed to making His Law known to all His children that He has written it on the hearts of every believer. (See Jeremiah 31:33, Romans 2:15, and Hebrews 10:16.)

Is the Fourth Commandment written on the hearts of "Sunday-keepers" as well as on the hearts of those who are Sabbathkeepers? My answer is a necessary "yes." By observation, we can see that they are practicing a corrupted Sabbath principle, which comes from having the Law written on their hearts. Their worship follows a seven-day cycle with special emphasis given to a particular day of the week-the first day of the week-Sunday. There are many who even observe an imitation of the Sabbath rest that God wrote on their hearts.

This corrupted imitation of the Sabbath is the product of centuries of tradition which is nearly impossible to break. In fact, the task of breaking this tradition would be impossible were it not for the fact that "the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath" (Mark 2:28).

Jesus and the Law

Jesus did not come to earth to change the Law itself. He came to show the rightful place of the Law. Jesus came to bring men into right relationship with the Father by dying on the cross. He came to show that the proper place of the Law is in the context of loving God and loving your neighbor (Matthew 22:40). Love does not do away with the Law, because love is the basis for the Law. Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." (Matthew 5:17-18)

But the Jews of Jesus’ day did not understand the proper place of the Law. The Pharisees were the ones who had corrupted the role of the Law the most. The Pharisees had made the Law something that should be kept in order to "buy" their salvation. These Pharisees believed that they could earn their salvation by keeping the Law.

Christ came and responded angrily to this attitude. Salvation must be by grace through faith alone, and not by keeping the Law. The problem was not with the Law-it was with the Pharisees.

The Ten Commandments are an expression of the very nature and will of God, which is unchangeable. Jesus Christ did not come to change even the smallest portion of the moral law.

Some say that Christ changed the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first day of the week. That would require a change in the Law. The moral law says that "the seventh day is the Sabbath," and not the first day of the week. Nowhere does the Bible tell us of this change in the Law from the seventh to the first day of the week.

Jesus and the Sabbath

The Sabbath was the commandment most corrupted by the Pharisees. So, it is not surprising that it was over Sabbathkeeping that Jesus would have had most of his conflict with the Pharisees. The Sabbath issue between Christ and the Pharisees was never over which day to worship, or whether the Sabbath was still part of God’s desire for mankind. The issue for Christ was the way in which the Sabbath was being kept, and the Pharisees’ attitude toward the Sabbath.

The most powerful statement regarding Christ’s commitment to the Sabbath is found in Mark 2:27 and 28. "And he said unto them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.’" The climax of Jesus’ statement comes when he says that he is Lord of the Sabbath day. This means that Jesus has the authority over all the circumstances regarding the Sabbath.

Christians should be taught that Jesus Christ can arrange circumstances in order to provide the opportunity to keep the seventh day Sabbath holy. God wants the undivided attention of His people on the seventh day Sabbath, and He will use the resources of His kingdom to make this possible.

The story of creation in Genesis gives the origin of the Sabbath, but it does not give the reason for God’s creation of the Sabbath. However, a clue to its purpose is given in the fact that the Sabbath was created right after man’s creation. Perhaps the Sabbath was created by God with man in mind.

The fact that the Sabbath was made for man is stated clearly by Jesus Christ, the Creator of the Sabbath. "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath." (Mark 2:27). Here Jesus addresses the Pharisees who are condemning him and his disciples for breaking the Pharisaic rules regarding the Sabbath.

There are three things which can be learned from this sentence from the mouth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

First, the Sabbath was made. This is a clear reference back to Genesis 2 showing that the Sabbath was a part of the perfect creation order. The Sabbath existed from the very beginning as the final part of God’s creation. This reference to the creation of the Sabbath would also serve as a reminder to the Pharisees that the Sabbath was created by God and not by them.

Second, the Sabbath was made for man. Right after the creation of man, God made the Sabbath. (See Genesis 1 and 2.) Jesus, the Creator of the Sabbath, says that the Sabbath was created with all mankind in mind.

The Sabbath does not have its origins in the Law. Its origins go back to creation. The Sabbath was not a Jewish Sabbath alone, because "the Sabbath was made for man," and not for just the Jews. When the Sabbath was created in the beginning, there were no Jews. This is the clear message of Jesus in this New Testament text.

At creation, man was in perfect harmony with God and with the universe. A part of this harmony of the perfect creation was the Sabbath, which God Himself blessed and sanctified (Genesis 2:3). God created man in such a way that he needed the Sabbath. Then God created the Sabbath to meet that need. "The Sabbath was made for man."

Third, "the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." At the time of Jesus, the Pharisees had lost the meaning of the Sabbath. God had created the Sabbath for man’s benefit, but the Pharisees had reversed the meaning. For the Pharisees, the Sabbath was more important than man, and they believed that God had created man to keep the Sabbath.

The Sabbath was created for man’s benefit. Jesus’ life, death, and ministry did not change the original meaning and purpose of the Sabbath. But Jesus did attack the Pharisees for the way they had corrupted and changed the original meaning and purpose of God’s holy day.
but then again, I have long since discovered that people believe what they want to believe Peace in the name of the Lord.

I agree with you! It is a good post!!

Sabbath is not just for Jews only, also include Gentiles. Jesus created sabbath for people.

Easy for us to be too busy without have rest, could cause our spiritual little trouble and easy forget God. We should have rest from busy and stress. We need time to get focus on the Lord with relationship with our spirit is important.

Sabbath means rest. Sabbath is not mean that we going to church service to worship the Lord on that day. Sabbath means we rest from our work, and let focus on the Lord with our spiritual relationship. We can rest anytime during week.

I do work on Sundays, even also Saturday too. But I follow the work schedule. It is not stable, it always changing all the time because I work as stock at the foodstore. No choice. But, I need rest for 1 day to focus on the Lord.


Being debate on which day of sabbath, we must rest is not necesscary. Because Jesus Christ IS our Sabbath. We can worship Christ anytime during week.

We can't judge Seventh Day Adventists who going to church on Saturday. Neither we judge Christians going to church on Sunday.

I still attend church on every Sunday. Nothing wrong with going to church on Sunday. It do not bother God. Same with people going to church on Saturday do not bother God.

Even, many Baptist churches do have service on Wednesday, it do not bother God.

God interesting in our heart how our relationship with him.

I hope many of you agree each other about sabbath issue, that we discuss so far.

Did God sanctify the Sabbath in the wilderness of Sin? There is no intimation of such fact. On the contrary, it is mentioned at that time as something already set apart of God. On the sixth day Moses said, "To-morrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto the Lord." Surely this is not the act of instituting the Sabbath, but the familiar mention of an existing fact. We pass on to Mount Sinai. Did God sanctify the Sabbath when he spoke the ten commandments? No one claims that he did. It is admitted by all that Moses spoke of it familiarly the previous month. Does the Lord at Sinai speak of the sanctification of the Sabbath? He does; but in the very language of Genesis he goes back for the sanctification of the Sabbath, not to the wilderness of Sin, but to the creation of the world.We ask those who hold the theory under examination, this question: If the Sabbath was not sanctified at creation, but was sanctified in the wilderness of Sin, why does the narrative in each instance record the sanctification of the Sabbath at creation and omit all mention of such fact in the wilderness of Sin? Nay, why does the record of events in the wilderness of Sin, show that the holy Sabbath was at that time already in existence? In a word, How can a theory subversive of all the facts in the record, be maintained as the truth of God?

The seventh day, as hallowed by God in Eden, was not Jewish, but divine; it was not the memorial of the flight of Israel from Egypt, but of the Creator's rest. Nor is it true that the most distinguished Jewish writers deny the primeval origin of the Sabbath, or claim it as a Jewish memorial. We cite the historian Josephus and his learned contemporary, Philo Judaeus. Josephus, whose "Antiquities of the Jews" run parallel with the Bible from the beginning, when treating of the wilderness of Sin, makes no allusion whatever to the Sabbath, a clear proof that he had no idea that it originated in that wilderness. But when giving the account of creation, he bears the following testimony:

"Moses says that in just six days the world and all that is therein was made. And that the seventh day was a rest and a release from the labour of such operations; WHENCE it is that we celebrate a rest from our labour on that day, and call it the Sabbath; which word denotes rest in the Hebrew tongue."

I find it interesting that the Sabbath is "Consecrated" in Genesis 2:3.

Consecrated = Made Holy

God Consecrated the Seventh Day for all to rest upon. God does not give us things that are bad. What a joy is is to actually set aside a day to give up work, and be focused on God. Why would people be so against the idea of spending a day dedicated over anything else to the fellowship of God?

IMHO The OT is a wonderful source to learn the personality of God, and the need we have for Jesus.

However, I don't think anyone in today's world...no wait I know that no one in today's world is capable of following the laws of the Jews the way they did back then. They couldn't do it either! Hence the need for Jesus.

There is no way possible given these scriptures that you are under any sort of obligation (spiritually or otherwise) to worhip on the Sabbath (Saturday).

Look at a few verses revealing what "Christians" in the Bible did, and when, as they assembled in the name of the Lord.

Acts 20:7 Acts 20:7 ¶And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

1 Corinthians 16:1 ¶Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Did you know the Lord rose from the dead on the first day of the week? Mark 16:9
Did you know that the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples on the first day of the week? Acts 2
Did you know that Jesus appeared to His diciples on the first day of the week? John 20:19
Did you know that 3000 converts were baptized and joined the church on the first day of the week? Acts 2:41 Did you know that John received his revelation on the first day of the week? Revelation 1:10

Here are two important matters to note on this. One is that the Sabbath was given to all people prior to the law in Genesis 2:3.

Second is that in Revelation 14:12 it says "Behold here are those who keep the commandments of God AND the faith of Jesus"

Law based Salvation has gone long ago, yet what God consecrated in Genisis 2:3 remains COnsecrated and Holy, until God specifically says not to any more. Cancelling Circumcision for Gentiles is given nearly a whole chapter in the bible. If God wanted the Seventh Day Sabbath Changed He would definitley say so clearly in His Word. Yet Revelation which is Prophecy of future events shows people keeping the Commandments and having Faith in Jesus.

It is not about keeping the 10 Commandments in order to be saved, we keep Gods Commandments because we are Saved.

The early church kept the Sabbath, as did other groups of the church until they were toppled by Catholiscm (Celtic Church, Essene Christian Community etc). It is not about being law based, but following the model of the Early Church.

Paul told us not to sweat the small stuff - that it was important in OT picture, but not related to the Church! "Free from the Law, O happy condition!"

Dr. Bob Griffin -- It's difficult for me to believe people say we are "free from the Law", when Jesus (Matt. 5:17-19) and Paul (1Cor. 7:18-19) said just the opposite.

We can not be totally free from the law or we would be sinless, since there would NOT be a law to transgress or break.

For example, if "thou shalt not steal" not longer existed, stealing would not be a sin and we would, therefore, not need a saviour to rescue us from our horrible deeds.

Even the liberal state of California says stealing is a punishable crime -- a "sin", if you will, against your neighbor.

Breaking the Holy Sabbath was not "small stuff" to God. That was one of the reasons Israel went into captivity. It was backsliding. It was forgetting God. Ancient Israel's big sins were idolatry and sabbath breaking (Ezekiel 20). God doesn't change. He's constant. He is our ROCK.

The Sabbath is more than just a day of rest. It identifies who God is (Ex. 31:13). God told us to keep the Sabbath "that you may know that I am the Lord that does sanctify you".

7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

We need to be sure we are not getting the Jewish laws and the Ten Commandments mixed up. Circumsion, Ceremonial washing are all done as a pathway to salvation for the Jew which was done away with the ressurection of Jesus Christ. The 10 Commandments are Gods basis of Law for all of society.
