Most do have biblical elders, but elders (even teaching elder with gift of pastoring) do not have FORMAL TRAINING that would be normative in most Baptist churches to some degree. They "may", but it is not required.
Ah, so not much into Seminary and higher education, so that would seem to demandnot having their pastors and teachers not well versed in Greek and Hebrew then, as most seminaries would require the pastor to at least be skilled in their use for exposition?

Wonder if they would qualify as being "Hyper Calvinists?"
All "Sovereign Grace Baptists" I know would be biblical 5-point calvinists, NOT "hyper" (double predestination, non-evangelistic). We agree with Jonah that "salvation is of the Lord".

We hold to the truth that God elects MEN for salvation and also elects MEANS for salvation - preaching repentance and faith. We were the first missionary-minded Baptists in the English-speaking world. (think William Carey or Adoniram Judson as examples). Our enemies who push a man-centric salvation call us "hyper" perjuriously

I see. Many Primitive Baptists hold to 'double predestination". An old college roommate drifted that way and tried to judge me for "giving the Gospel indiscriminantly", Said I was "Casting pearls before swine". No invitation. No evangelism. No Sunday school or Bible clubs. Don't even share the Gospel unless they give evidence that they were truly elect to salvation (not elect to damnation). Very sad.

Of course, many Baptists CALL anyone who believes in election/sovereignty rather than works salvation a "hyper calvinist". Just shows their ignorance of basic doctrine.
