What are the best Caribbean Islands to vacation on?

With the coronavirus taking out Europe and China out of the equation, I am looking at the Caribbean to see what is a nice safe place to go. Anyone have any ideas?

Aruba. You feel right at home. Some of the other islands have more tropical beauty, but for many reasons, I recommend Aruba. Direct flights too, no jump off antique tail draggers to board, with newbie pilots, & ‘stewardesses’ who try to guess your weight while seating people to balance the load. I’ll pass.

We went to St. Lucia one year and had a great time. We stayed at the all inclusive Coconut Bay resort located by the airport. We had a great time and I highly recommend it. It was on the Atlantic side of the island and the ocean there was very enjoyable, not a large beach, but enjoyable nonetheless. The food was excellent as well as the service and I would go there again. Most of the vacationers were Brits with a sprinkling of Canadians and Americans.

How are the beaches, any particular one to look for.

Like I said, the beaches on the Atlantic side where we were are not the long sandy beaches common to many islands in the Caribbean. For those, you have to go to the resorts on the Caribbean side which are a good 2 hours drive through winding roads, so I don't know much about those.

As for the resort I mentioned, they were good enough to take a dip in the ocean, most swimming is done in the pools anyway (of which they have 3) Even on the hottest days there was a constant breeze coming off the ocean with breaking waves - it was beautiful scenery. There is an kids side and adult side of the resort which is nice. The reason we stayed there was you got off the plane and you had a 5 minute drive and you were there.

San Andres. I have never been but I know some people who have. It is good for snorkeling if I remember correctly. It belongs to Columbia but the people are English speaking and they are Baptists.

It all depends on what you are looking for. St Kitts, & St John offer beauty & privacy.....at a cost. On many of the small islands you have to pass by people who are ‘begging’, & it is hard as you disembark for a tropical getaway. They know you are a ‘rich’ visitor, & you are by their standards. Those small islands have small beaches as well. Hawaii is great, have you considered that? As soon as I got off the plane there I was already telling myself I needed to live there. Beaches are everywhere, pull off the road & find your own beach. I stayed in the North Shore area on Oahu, awesome, but quite the flight there from my midwest location. Cheers on finding what is best for you.

Not the smartest thing to do I think, what with all the Corona flying around. I'm not going on a ship with as couple of thousand other people thank you very much!
