What are we going to do with all the cured people who are now immune?

There is going to be hundreds of thousands within 2 weeks, then millions of them. We dont test for antibodies and not doing much testing for antigens either yet, but we should be, just plain dumb to to not let our recovered people go back to work and regular living. We have no idea how many hundreds of thousands are immune already. Why continue to shoot ourselves in both feet when only our pinky finger is swollen. We need a better plan that just wait and see what happens. The pressure will build, you can not keep immune recovered people locked down. Ignore the negative doomsday responses, they are part of the dummy destroyers.

Right now there are only 14,000 confirmed recoveries. But there should be a lot more undetected ones and yes in 2 weeks there will be a lot more, maybe close to 100,000 since lot of confirmed cases occured in the past two weeks.

One of the issues we are finding is that infectivity can still happen after symptom resolution for up to 10 days for some patients. But assuming full negative PCR, then serological testing could then show a good immune response.

That will probably happen at some point but is probably not worth doing yet on a widespread level in the US since most of the cases are still infective.

One of the main concerns is that we don't know how long that immunity will last. For some diseases it might be lifetime but others it could only be a few years or months. We will probably get some data on duration of immunity out of China first since they have the longest recovered patients.

Also we don't really know what level of serology shows adequate immunity to actually protect someone from getting it again. It is not a simple yes or no answer.

A FED member think universal testing a good idea, I say sure, but we need to know the people with the antibodies are immune, they no longer need any testing to go back to regular life, just the one test to prove that is all that is needed for them.

And you bet they are immune as they are even asking for volunteer plasma donors for using recovered patient's plasma as a treatment, as they have the antibodies present in their blood that defeated the disease. If no one has any immunity that means everyone who gets this dies because their immune system can not defeat the virus and that is an outright lie as 80% recover with no help.

People need to discern the difference between what is real and what is a myth.

This article goes into a lot more detail about this and reiterates a lot of the issues I highlighted.

The cdc is more actively developing and performing serological testing, right now more to check for the extent of asymptomatic carriers and candidates for potential plasma exchange therapy.

The article also goes into the issues of using serology as a clearance for return to society. Serological immunity does need to pair with pcr testing to confirm you are no longer infective. And we don’t know the duration of immunity.

There is also the risk of people doing this familiar scenario which is dangerous because it creates more infections that overwhelm the health system even more.

Putting too much stock in immunity, too, could create some kind of incentive for becoming infected in order to develop antibodies, which would be highly irresponsible during an outbreak of an infectious disease about which so much is still unknown.

The degree of immunity could also differ from person to person depending on the strength of the patient’s antibody response. Younger, healthier people will likely generate a more robust antibody response, giving them more protection against the virus in future.

“We would expect that if you have antibodies that neutralize the virus, you will have immunity,” Menachery says. “How long the antibodies last is still in question.”

What to Know About Coronavirus Immunity and Chances of Reinfection

The immunity will last long enough for any vaccine to be produced. The antibody testing will confirm that. People who want to dispute these things have an axe to grind, perhaps against our way of life, they are spoilers, maybe they prefer socialism and communism and want to see the destruction of our great country, like some of them have said, "America was never great."

And there is such a thing as BOOSTER SHOTS, like are used for Tetanus to reinvigorate immunity.
And for RABIES. Why do you suppose your pets need rabies shots every so often!

It might be needed every few years for this, it would also be in the annual flu shot then.

This is all true. There are a lot unknowns and if you make sweeping recommendations based on estimates from other related diseases, you are playing a very dangerous gamble with people’s lives.

But we will eventually use serology to clear people. The medical data to do that safely is not available yet.

We don’t have a vaccine yet to consider boosters. Hopefully one of the ones under development will be shown effective. But that is not a guarantee. This is another reason vaccine development takes a long time, the ones we test don’t always work.
