    sermons

    I am in the midsge of an exposition of Romans, just finished 3:19-20. (Sunday AM).

    Sunday Nights I have been expositing John 1:1-18. This week we are ordaining deacons.

    Wednesdays I am expositing Colossians.

    I love Colossians. The last Bible conference I did was 5 night overview of Col. I can't wait to preach through it again.

    Colossians is a great book, it has been one of my favorites that I have preached through.

    Beware of preaching on gluttony. I preached it tonight and kept it lighthearted and one woman is now mad because she thinks I made light of sin.:BangHead:

    I'm not currently preacing, but I am teaching an adult education class. We just finished a series on prayer and then one on Christmas. Now we are reading through one of the most neglected books of the Bible: Judges. We have worked through chapter 5 so far.

    I didn't even know there were other kinds of sermons! I am kidding of course! Sometimes a topical sermon is appropriate...but most of the time I preach and teach from the Bible.

    Started off from I Cor. 6:19-20 Our bodies belong to the Lord.

    Definition of Gluttony (OUCH!!!)

    No fancy outline, just an open discussion primarily.

    1. Addiction Phil. 3:19
    2. Temptation Psalm 141:4
    3. Leads to Poverty Prov. 23:21 (I think)
    4. Discipline Prov. 23:1-3

    Shared some examples from the Bible: Esau, Israel, Belshazzar, and Sons of Eli

    Touchy subject and hits too close to home.

    Orson Welles once said, “My doctor has advised me to give up those intimate little dinners for 4, unless, of course, there are 3 other people eating with me.”
