The Navy permitted two lesbians to share in the traditional "first kiss" following the ships return to port. And this story is making waves (sorry for the pun) across the nation and around the world!

While it is now a law, that gays can serve openly in the military, was it really necessary to sell tickets to witness the event? Is this not a kin to a live porn act ("Sailors and their loved ones bought one dollar raffle tickets for the opportunity")?

In my opinion, it is one thing to allow gays to (serve in the military), and another to put their outward display of affection on display before all America to see.

Do you believe that American morals are sinking into the deep abyss of sin, more quickly than those of the once great Roman Empire?

I saw the news reports on this. I would not be surprised to learn that some of her fellow sailors bought tickets and put her name on them. I am absolutely dumbfounded by the fascination heterosexual males have with homosexual females. I would like to know what the result would have been if it were two male sailors.

If we are going to allow them in the service and they no longer have to hide it then why should we be surprised at this?

I remember reading some news reports from when Bob Crane ("Hogan" of "Hogan's Heroes" TV fame) was found murdered, and one investigator said that the evidence first suggested to them a crime involving homosexual passions, as investigators generally understood that homosexual crimes were distinctively more vicious and brutal than non-homosexual crimes. I've never forgotten that.

In the Book of Genesis we see roving mobs of homosexuals violently gang-raping a woman all night long after being barred against their intention of raping the men, and the woman was killed. Homosexuals came near to beat down Lot's door in their effort to take the visiting 'men' (actually, they were angels) and forcibly gang rape them. Sodom was destroyed by fire for that type of out of control wickednesss, and the same kind of out of control wickedness is gaining ground in today's world just as the Lord predicted would happen just before His second coming.

Kissing homosexual sweeties are wicked inside and their "steps take hold on hell." (Prov. 7:27).

I don't disagree with you. It is homosexuality, and it is sin. They can call it what they want, and even get some left-leaning denominations to support their cause, but in the end, it is what it is: sin. Furthermore, it is homosexual in every way you look at it. :tear:

I think the tradition is fine. Apparently it has been going on for a long time. There was no raffle to view the event. The raffle is only to decide who is going to get the 'first kiss' and since the repeal of DADT this was bound to happen. I doubt the Navy is going to stop the tradition just because of this incident.

We had better get used to the fact that the world is going to act like the world.

If the US is becoming 'less Christian' it is because we have stopped using the gospel and replaced it with politics. Its time we get back to preaching the word. We can't compete on their battlefield.

Yes, according to the linked articles they were raffling off the opportunity to be first off the ship to greet a loved one, not "selling tickets to witness something a kin to a live XXXX act". The articles say that:

There's no such thing as morals in this country any more. Even some churches are accepting homosexuality into their churches and ordaining them. I have no desire to see homosexuals or lesbians kissing; I find it gross.

A couple notes:
-As others have mentioned, this is a common occurrence when a ship returns from deployment. I wouldn't say that it is a "tradition" per se, but rather a way of turning something exciting (the return of the ship after 7+ months and the following reuniting of families) into a little fundraiser for the crew's "Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR)" Fund. Not to mention it settles the question of "who gets to be the first off the ship?" question in a somewhat equitable way. When my ship returned from deployment the guy who won the raffle got to leave the ship first followed by all the new fathers whose babies were born while we were underway or right before we left. After that the Commodore escorted the Captain's wife and daughter onboard to greet him before the brow was opened for general traffic.

-There isn't any real possibility of doing away with this sort of thing now that the "first kiss" could go to a homosexual couple. In fact, it would immediately be recognized for what it is, an attempt to prevent homosexual couples from participating in something that heterosexual couples were doing before, and it would get very ugly very fast. This is especially so because it would look in some ways like military personnel trying to circumvent official policy as outlined by our civilian leadership.

-The Navy has undergone extensive training regarding the repeal of DADT. While I have no doubt there have been isolated issues in some places, for the most part the expectation is that no one is to treat anyone else with any less professionalism than before and nor is anyone to act with any less professionalism than before, regardless of personal view or "orientation." If this couple had made an effort to attract more attention than is normally given the first kiss couple (pictures of this event frequently end up in the local paper's article regarding a ship's return) then that would be out of line. Whatever other media outlets do with this event because of their own perception of the significance of it is beyond the control of these two petty officers and they can't be held accountable for that.

Now enough of dwelling on the negative facts of life regarding this matter. If you want something positive to do in response, pray for our Chaplains that they would have wisdom when it comes to dealing with the secondary and tertiary effects of the DADT repeal. No doubt some will find themselves in awkward positions where they may find their faith in conflict with their charged military duties. When it comes to this subject, theirs is not an enviable position...
