I would debate a basic doctrine that we assume 100% of Baptists would believe (literal heaven/hell; sin nature of man; etc) but simply state my position as asked in the thread on these areas.

I have hundreds of personal positions and beliefs (and like everyone, we think OUR belief is the correct interpretation - if we didn't, we be looking for a shrink!) and happy to talk about any. I will start a couple threads that may not have been talked about in many years.

When the BB began in 2000 and for its first decade, I posted about 28,000 times. I am not shy, as any of the old-timers here can attest. Love the discussions. Love grace and liberty more. But will not sacrifice TRUTH on the altar of UNITY for anyone.

    My denomination is Baptist.
I am a one point Calvinist (OSAS) and a two point Arminian (Christ died for all mankind, and our individual election for salvation was conditional, through faith in the truth.
I believe Christ will return mid trib, pre-wrath, and will then reign on earth for 1000 years.

The various creation theories all have flaws in my opinion. I am in the I do not know camp.
I believe Moses complied Genesis, and should be considered an accurate historical account of creation and prer-history.
The Critical Text is the best one for study, and the NASB is the best English translation.
Word for word translation philosophy is by far the best method of translating God's word.
If a Greek or Hebrew word is used to refer to both genders, I think using non-gender specific translation is best, provided the context supports the translation.

Wondering what Calvin or Arminius have to do with anything I believe. As also my fore fathers.
    -
I look for my Lord when I see Him coming. The order of events will be what they are and/or will be.
    -
Creation is as it is... God said!

The Hebrew & Received Text in the English language. You've already guessed that I reckon.

My church uses KJV; however, I am fine with other translations. I use NIV.

Radical Christian.....believe in Immersion / dunking Baptism
Believe in all 5 points of Doctrines of Grace
Pan Mil--It will all pan out!
I prefer singing from hymnal.....Complementary Christian music makes my skin crawl---most of it stinks!
what else.....clothes Yes, Tats OK, beards...well Jesus had one, no flip-flops!!!! No tithing, NO HOLDING HANDS (or touching), Home Churches OK by me, AA at the church is OK, Pot Luck Lunch Sundays should be limited to 1 per month, Skeet Shooting is twice during hunting season, No Easter egg hunts & only one modest Christmas tree per season. No SS classes---kids should stay with parents, and its the parents responsibility to raise up their kids in the way of the Lord. Make the unworthy family, Give to the poor Charitably. Focus on the Gospel & Discipleship.

Baptist (Baptist born & Baptist bred; when I die I'll be Baptist dead :))
Non-Calvinist; Non-Arminian; Non-"Traditionalist" (I believe what I believe and it is not "systematic"; sounds Calvinistic to a lot of people)
Panmillennialist (Jesus is coming back, literally, bodily, and it will "all pan out" in the end)
6 literal 24 hour days of creation, plus one 24 hour day of rest = 7 days of creation week
Byzantine/KJV (but none of the wacky Ruckman-KJVO nonsense)
    Verbal/Formal equivalent
    Inspired, inerrant, authoritative Bible

Here, here!!! I think that's the way you say it. Wacky is a good descriptive word.

What do you call a 1-point Calvinist? An Arminian.

When the BB began 17 years ago (I was there) we had a policy that we would not "call names" like "cult" or "heretic" etc. Don't think "wacky" was ever discussed back then . . . and seems to apt a description of ANYONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE WITH ME. :)

Too bad more effort was not spent learning Biblical Doctrine. All this sound and fury to find fault with those that differ is a flare signaling insecurity.

Dr. Bob, that would be on me and not "The Parson". I only use the KJV but didn't want bare statement confused with the views of Peter Ruckman and those who follow him.

Thank you. Still getting the hang of quoting quotations about others' quoting quotations. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, you know :)

And I haven't been over in the Bible Translation area since I came off sabbatical, but I withstand to their faces those holding to the
    (1) Ruckman teaching (the KJV - whichever revision you think is perfect - actually CORRECTS the God-breathed Greek manuscripts
    (2) Hyles teaching (unless a person is saved using the KJV - again unsure which edition since they all differ - you are not REALLY SAVED)

Always a blessing to hear others who repudiate error
