In another thread, I asked BB members to consider what would happen if it was proven that Obama was not a citizen.
One post stated it would be a constitutional crisis.

Over our 200+ years as a country, what do you consider to have been the worst constitutional crisis the USA has ever been thru?

I would have to vote for the Civil War. Regardless of if you believe the Confederacy had the right to secede or not, I think it is clear that the blessings we enjoy today as Americans may not have persevered through the years had we been divided into two (or more) independent nations. Americans have more in common than different, and have achieved great things together. I still believe the best is yet to come.

Considering that that did occur-- the U.S.A. and Canada-- how do you figure?

Because Canada was never part of the US. The wanna-be CSA states were...and are. I don't think a bunch of little countries would have attained the theings the US did.

Britain had more North American colonies than the 13 that became the United States of America. Some remained under British control and became Canada. So that situation is the same-- some rebelled against British control and some didn't, and some rebelled against federalist control and some didn't.

And if 'little' countries don't accomplish much, why did the USA connive at the independence of so many little countries, particularly during the first 30 or so years after WWII?
