Due to the Movie, "Patton" I am aware of the prayer for better weather, but had no knowledge of the four Chaplains.

One story to file with these accounts is the one told (partly told) in the movie "Chariots of Fire." The runner who would not run on Sunday became a missionary to China. He became a POW of the Japanese, and in those difficult circumstances as a missionary aided the prisoners as best he could. He died while serving those also in prison.

While the Chinese government of today is atheistic, it should be remembered that a monument to Eric Liddell stands in China.

We have unofficial Chaplains in our fire department. They're normal members who are also deacons at their local Churches. They open up every department meeting with prayer to Christ, which helps us all deal mentally with bad calls. They're probably the most important part of our department.
