I know we are all mature adults and may feel that a discussion of this type is immature and childish, but so what?
Before Christmas, my wife was really nagging me to give her a list of stuff that I would like to have, and I told her that any small gift would be ok because I did not want to have anyone stressing over Christmas gifts for me. Anyway, she wouldn't let up and it just happened that this super duper kitchen knife was being advertised on tv during this fuss, and I pointed to the tv and said "That knife is all that I want. Just get me that knife and don't worry about anything else."
Christmas Day, she showered me with lots of nice stuff, and when I had opened all of my packages and duly thanked her, there was no knife. I said "Well, what about the knife that I wanted?" She ran to the back and fetched it. She had bought it early on and forgot that she had it.
The knife has a killer edge on it and it was packed tightly in a plastic bubble. I was trying very hard to avoid getting a cut while extricating the knife, but I did it anyway. It was like a paper cut on the end of my thumb. Just enough to complicate any small task that I have to do. Oh well, I like the knife anyway. It's a real doozy.
What did you folks get?

I got nothing specifically on Christmas day from anyone but myself. I bought some art supplies and a discount store bullet journal and some large paper to use for planning and budgeting. I wrapped the things and put them under the tree. I believe in the importance of single people and victims embracing self-compensation and self-care throughout the holidays. I chose to participate in things that I was not invited to participate in. I invited myself.

Before Christmas day, I have been blessed with love and gifts over and over and over, by people and circumstances that are too coincidental to be anything but God. God didn't send manna on the Sabbath, but sent it beforehand.

We are human. God knows we are human. We have human needs.

I love knives! I had to leave my knives behind when I took the plane here. With the fear that was gripping the airports at the time I traveled, I did NOTHING to draw attention to myself. I miss my pocketknife. I had not been without a trusty pocketknife since my divorce. I had always traveled with less scrutiny and I always took my knife and used it the most during transitional times. I have felt naked without a knife. I am still hacking things instead of cutting them with my plastic purple-handled knife from the dollar store. LOL.

May you and your knife spend many happy days together!

I got John Grisham's new book, "A Time for Mercy". A pair of pajamas and houseshoes.

I knew I was getting those things because I bought them - LOL.

my wife and I are getting an exercise bike... Since we can't go to the gym and our activities are limited and we don't know when we are going to be free from our prison, that seemed to be the best gift... When it gets here:rolleyes:... How many will be getting after Christmas gifts, thanks to online purchases, ups and the US Postal Service... Brother Glen:Thumbsdown

For future reference, you should be able to carry knives in checked luggage without any problem. And if you have no checked luggage, you may look very suspicious indeed.

I hate to see a knife lover without her knives. Got me right here.

Need more detail here so we can make fun of you, or compliment the packers. Glad you were being so careful, and thus lived to tell the tale. :Wink

Old-style exercise bikes are hard to find now! They are definitely an efficient pandemic home addition, and the market is flooded with less efficient exercise equipment, but these babies are hard to find.

My current home is about 4 times as large and the flooring is ceramic tile laid directly on cement that is directly poured on the ground, compared to being in tiny unit on an upper-floor of a highrise building. I have many more options right now, including pacing.

We have not been ordered to stay indoors, here. At least not yet. I really wanted an old-style exercise bike when I was in the city, but I realized that the problem was more than them being out of stock. They were not even being manufactured before the pandemic.

At Y2K, I looked ahead at all the new things that were being introduced and assumed we would continue to have all the old as well as the new. Over the past two decades, we have lost access to so many of the efficient items that we used to depend on. I feel like we have lost ground instead of gaining it.

A return to my (much) younger days. I've always been a big fan of Marvel comics, and my daughter bought me "Marvel Masterworks" reprints of some "Fantastic Four" and "the Avengers" comics. My wife bought me some CDs of albums I enjoyed in my youth (Stonewall Jackson, Credeence Clearwater Revival, etc.) I love nostalgic celebrations.
