What do they want to teach your children?

Did you know that in South Carolina the State Education Dept. is holding meetings to hear out a group that believes that schools should drop "old" history from their agendas and lesson plans?

By old history I am referring to ALL history, US and World that dates 1880 and back. This means that the Civil War, the reconstruction, the spanish american war, our fight for freedom from the brittish, the boston tea party, even the drafting of the constitution will be banned from history books.

Is this group gaining majority support? NO! but it should be noticed that every year they gain more and more support! Their argument is that this will clear all the red tape of trying to teach in a politically correct manner when dealing with ancient practices and philosophies (accepted issues such as racism, slavery, religion, politics).

Where did I hear this from? A principal who attended a state education seminar to make them aware of this consideration as well as new laws and proposals.

People are trying to cut our very history of building this nation on the Word of God.... comments?

Man, I hate to say it, but nothing that happens in the public school arena shocks me anymore. I have an old paper-back book here in front of me that was written in 1964 by a former congressman named John Stormer. The title is "None Dare Call it Treason". In chapter 6, where he talks about education, you would almost think that he is a prophet, given the nature of his warnings about the path that public education was taking.

I don't have any more kids in school since my youngest son graduated a couple of years ago, and I can't critize any parent for sending their kids to public school, because parents typically do for their kids whatever they can afford. I wish it were possible for all concerned Christians to boycott the public school system.

To answer your question, No, I did not know this, but isn't it possible that the South Carolina State Education Dept. is holding meetings to hear out a group that believes that schools should drop "old" history from their agendas and lesson plans to give equal time to all groups and people who have suggestions.

Just because they are hearing these people does not mean that they are going to enact this in their schools.

When a group has a suggestion for what they think is an improvement in the schools, the governing board usuals hears them and then acts upon it. It is then easier for them to say "no", we do not think this is good for our schools at this time.

It is called freedom of speech and letting people have their say. It also means that they will let all parents have input to the educational program.
